I'm confused about this article. The bond is for B-1/B2, not for F1. The article concedes as such. Then it goes on to state that the bond may come in place IF the student has to arrive earlier that 30 days from start of class ... read full comment

With this knowledge in hand, why does this student with a scholarship just go to Ohio at the time the Visa allows the no-bond entry and make arrangements with the school for any extra time they may need?
It sounds like an opportunity to complain rather than make lemonade out of lemons. My friend, your ability to think on your feet and make decisions of the fly will land you in good stead in University. Life is not scripted. Lear to call an audible.
