First of all there’s no such thing like “gay Imam”. This is a usual sponsored blackmail against Islam and what it stands for. Since some Christians are voluntarily offering themselves as gay pastors, then as an equalization, there must be a gay Imam.

Again, Islam does not recommend the killing of gay people or people of different sexual orientation. These are other forms of sins like fornication stealing, etc but maybe more gravious than the former in the sight of God.

Both Islam and Christianity reckons that all men are sinners and we are all under the constant mercy of God.

In fact, the sin with the most gravity in Islam is associating God with partners and we have a lot of them as Muslims but not killed.

Every potential sinner is a potential candidate for heaven including gays until maybe the person dies without repenting.
