Marcos of Philippines was one of the most corrupt, incompetent and vicious leaders to ever exist, yet he wasn't as dark as some of our leaders. Instead of investigating Weah's performance in office, they are wasting state resources investigating who and how the papers of his assets were leaked. They may call it a probe, but in Africa we all know those two are same and holds nobody accountable for any wrong doing. Anyway, I don't know why the 'assets declarations' of public officials in Liberia are not public records. It is not like any of our leaders posses the moral to tell us the truth anyway!

If these politicians are running the people's business, then it behooves them to make these asset declarations open to the public. For how can any government expect the public to come forward with suspicious asset s of government officials when that public is kept in dark about these assets? Liberia's system of keeping these asset declarations private does nothing to stem the flow dubiously-acquired assets. Secrecy in government breeds nothing but corruption and abuses.
