It is plain to see that African nations are bargaining from a position of weakness not strength. When we finally manage to set up financially viable leagues that can offer meaningful employment to our players so they'd be in a position to tell the Chelseas, Man "U"s, Arsenals and Man Citys where to go with their slave contracts, then we will be able to confidently tell these folks to get lost, and that we will do things our own way. For now, we need them more than they need us so it will be in our own interest to just tow the line. As they say: Ibi seaman dey wait for ship, ino be ship dey wait for seaman.

No mention of why the tournament was moved to January. It was formerly a summer tournament. I remember the reason was to accommodate the European league many of which have a short break in Dec-Jan or the winter months. But no ... read full comment
