u see this is a nice article preaching on patriotism. The thing is these footballers are already adults fending for their families. check whether any of them is in school! They are real adults faking their ages in order to pit bread on their respective dining tables. Switzerland players had a handshake as motivation but am sure they all live in nice apartments and can afford 3-square meal a day. what r u talking about. u want the guys to sacrifice. what about the corrupt gov officials. CEO of Ghana Cocoaboaed, ECG, VRA, SSNIT etc what is their monthly take-home? U talk of startlets 91. Do u know how many of them ended up useless in our communities eg in Sunyani? some of them r beggers now.

You should blame the corrupt GFA officials who kept the players' share of the funds earned from their participation in the international matches.

A well written piece. The corrupt leaders at Ghafa use such schemes so that they can also have their share of the loot. Mother Ghana has a long way to go because the entire fabric of the society is embedded in corruption and moral decadence. What is the monetary reward Ghana normally get apart from the so-called empty fame we are tag off when ever our national teams excel internationally. For me,all you know, there are some few greedy fishes within the football fraternity pushing this bonus brouhaha,in the first place, why the promise, you are fortunate to be selected to play to upgrade your talent for yourself against the future and you are demanding money,no I edge the to ignore this wasteful expenditure and concentrate on more relevant and important developmental programs for Ghana.Kwesi Nyantekyi's GFA has outlive its usefulness and should have step-down ???? long ago.Ghanaian players should be be made to understand the fact that wearing the national jersey is a way of advertising oneself and raising once market value, look at our stadiums and the pitches, our interest is only on allowances and bonuses because we ourselves are going to be the beneficiaries,God bless Ghana.

A well-thought-out piece. The GFA has succeeded in using money as the only motivating factor for our national teams to win matches. Because of greed, they have pushed this down to these teenagers, a situation that spells doom to the careers of the lads. Come to think of our ladies setting-in at a hotel and refusing to leave until they are given something in the region of 29,000 dollars (130,000 cedis) each, just for winning women's football gold at the All Africa Games. This is a competition most countries refuse to participate in, and for those with participate, they only send second-rated teams because they do not value it. Yes, that is how low the Kwesi Nyantekyi GFA has sunk Ghana football to. In any serious country, all the thieves and incompetent hudlooms parading as GFA executive and ordinary members will be thrown out and investigated for various crimes. Yet we have useless and unconscionable soli-collecting journalists supporting and promoting unpatriotic acts by players, and supporting the corrupt officials. They have thrown away the ethics of journalism, and will not hold public office holders to account. It is high time we wake up as a nation and take decisive steps to stop the rot.

The problem however,is a cancer in the general cognitive makeup of Ghanaians.Everything is the responsibility of the government. If the GFA makes promises, the funds should come out of their resources. They need to be made to stand on their own two feet. They cannot say government should not interfere in their affairs and still expect all expenses to be met from the public purse.Interesting how, these problems do not happen in England or in any advanced countries. This nonsense must stop indeed.Government should not be paying bonuses promised by the GFA.
