They captured the cup alright but in their attempt to lurch back home to celebrate the victory over the dollar, they left the cup at the tarmac in Brazil and came home with nothing in hand. The taxpayer lost heavily. Are you going back Brazil to retrieve the lost cup? Funny! isn't it?

In 2008, the AFCON was staged here in our own backyard.
What happened?
Couldn't we have taken the cup by force? The cup was heavily surrounded,guarded by armed thugs of the army from Zambia. Before we were aware, the cup had been spirited away from the center of our own grassless backyard.There was nothing we could do.
Player flight tickets, hotel accommodation, per-diems and bonuses went wasted. The taxpayer suffered yet another loss.

In 2013 and there about, using money and Grand Cherokees as motivators, we lost the cup narrowly to the Ivory Coast.

Mr Gyan, in spite of all the goodwill bestowed on these boys, Ghana have gained nothing from them and they know it.

What makes you think using the same method, I mean physical cash, would motivate them win Gabon or Russia?

What I am suggesting is since our three group opponents are ranked in Africa and the world, if we beat Uganda, they can be paid about $5000.00; if they beat Mali and get 6 points, they can be paid $8000.00 for beating Mali (or $10,000.00) for qualifying to the knock-out stage. then if they draw or beat Egypt, they can be paid something higher. If they win the quarter-final match and qualify for the semi-final, they can be paid like $12,000.00 and if they win the cup, they can be paid $15,000.00. If they place third, they can be paid $10,000.00 each. If they draw a group match, they can be paid $3,000.00 each. The higher they go in the tournament, the higher the winning bonuses.

I think that being present at the tournament is more important than winning the trophy; if we win it, fine, then we may reward them. I suggest that we give each player not more than $2000 for every match. Those who can't sacrifice for the country, let them be replaced with local players, they will "kill" themselves for the $2000. After all, with the current crop of players, Ghana is 53rd in the world and 9th in Africa, if we replace them with local players, our position may be maintained or get worse and what would be the difference?
