Whoever wrote this negative portrayal of the Minister should get real about the role and expectations for a government Minister; the Minister's role is actually way bigger than football. As for the GFA, they have to understand that they are under the Ministry of Sports regardless of the ‘autonomy’ that FIFA might ascribe to them. GFA and football don't exist in a vacuum -- they exist and operate in the context of Ghana's constitution and governance.

The GFA must understand that it is actually a Unit or Division within the larger sports ministry, and that the GFA is subject and accountable to the Government of Ghana as represented by the Ministry of Sports. The independence that the FIFA stipulates for national football administrations is largely an operational, and does not remove them from governmental oversight. At the end of day, GFA is subject to Ghana’s laws and policy directions through the sports ministry. Even if the GFA were to be a truly independent entity (e.g. building and maintaining stadiums, financing the Stars etc.), it would still require the permission of the Government of Ghana (Ministry of Sports) through a formal agreement in order to operate in Ghana. The present situation is all because the current leadership of the GFA unrealistically refuses to see and accept this.. The mandate of the GFA

We need a cool non political head to crack the whip on the whimsical FA who think accountability is a privilege. The unfortunate gestures from the minister is rather making a capricious FA more popular and a lesser of the two evil.
