When I questioned why flings shouldn't be the flagbearer in favor of abeku Jackson. Many ignorant not unscrupulous persons came after me and demanded an apology. Apology for speaking the truth? Fools! I was watching nbc and cbc coverage and when Ghana contingent was shown. The commenters talked about Ghana' economy and the Ghanaian swimming sensation abeku Jackson! Also, it turns out flings is not even the best or most accomplished athlete in her discipline...so I want to know why she was picked by dodoo to be the flagbearer? If it's not 3tw3 die3y then what else? Goc inflated the qualifying times of these athletes to the bare minimum Ioc standards just so they can collect their per diems and budget for the games.just watch. 90% will be bounced after heat 1. The triangle of shame...mahama, nyantakyi. And Francis dodoo. After November u 3 will be capishe by any means necessary!

If a woman does a sexual favor to move up in her career I don't think she is a prostitute. It's a favor for a favor. Now,.Some women may tend to overdo this to the detriment of their own competencies. How does GOC inflate times? When i looked at the profile for Flings i see that she run under the qualifying time at least 2X in the USA. So we are to believe the GOC sent some James Bond operative from Ghana to these competitions to inflate time? You are a sad excuse for a human being. So much hate from you. The profile for Flings also shows she tied a national record in the 60m this year. What else do you need from her? A national record holder is not good enough to carry the flag at Olympics? If you get your head out of you a$$$$$ you will also see that the swimmer did not even qualifying. He was given a non-qualification slot because Ghana did not have a qualified swimmer. We get it that you don't like Dodoo and co but for God sake stop lying about sportsmen and women trying their best to represent Ghana.

Prior to that kenyan winning the world.championship gold in javelin. How many Africans had won gold in javelin at the world.championship or Olympics? Prolly 0. And dats why i can't agreed with u. The problem with Ghana is not the money. It's the attitude behind prepping for certain events and training to win gold. If our govts and athletes gave half the same attention and discipline to other sports disciplines like we do with soccer..ghana too will produce world class athletes in swimming, long distance events, javelin etc...the problem is we don't and it's not becos of money. I will leave u to figure out what the issue is.....

This is a controversial argument. however there is a tendency for certain sports to suit certain physics. but this isnot a law. The issue here is that the country and some clever and professional and I mean VERY professional sports advisors who understand ALL sports need to sit down and work out at a governmental level what the priorities are for the naNation. they then need to look at the make up of the population and examine physical attributes then look at the sports that have weknesses in the cContinent and opprotunities on a global stage. A dn then invest in that. The Chinese did the same when they started to enter global sports arenas back int he mid 80s. In less than 30 years they have managed to dominiate in almost every field but they only did this through proper planning and analysis not just willy nilly. There is nothing to say that a black swimmer can't win medals but the body mass of black athletes is GENERALLY, and I mean GENERALLY quite different. However we did see a Jamaiacan this year in the final heat for instance though she came last. Long distance running has suited Brits and East africans, again because of physical attributes but also because in east africa young athletes are training at high latitude. so there's nothing to say that if you put a young west african in that environment, over years, he/she would adapt and be able to perform at that same level. In other words, it's not the colour of your passport, or your geography but it is environment based. You can take an african athlete and put him in a european setting and he/she will develop in those sports that are predominantly white european. And sometimes it's the opposite, take tennis, considered a 'white sport' for many years, but the williams sisters have dominated because as well as their fantastic technical abilities and dedication and mindset, in other words the full set, they hae a special unique aspect that is hard for the white european tennis players to match - sheer physicality and strength that comes from their Africnan genes. Take weightlifting or wrestling, squat thick stocky builds suit those sports so therefore, it is not surprising that turkic/central european, east european and east asians do well in those sports. However there is nothing to say that the right build American given the opportunity to train alonside the top elite Turkish or Mongolian wrestler or armenians for instaance can't be the best. So it's about ENVIRONMENT and opportunity to train and learn and be exposed to the discipline in those countries that are the best at something. AND HAVING THE RIGHT PHYSICALITY HELPS. yOU GETTIT?

Ghana not going to win any medal is no news. It's been so for so many years and we are not the only country to suffer that. As for those making political comments, they should check the last time Ghana got a medal at the games. Ghana has won a total of 5 medals through all the Olympics since 1960. The last one, which was a bronze in football, was way back in 1992 in Barcelona. They should check Ghana's performance in 2004 and 2008 when dear darling NPP government was in power. It was abysmal just as it was in 2012,and will be this time around. If there are issues and problems let's as a country find that out and deal with it rather than engage in useless political blaims.

Ghana has a chance to set a high standard for Sports in Africa. The problem in Ghana is the same problem for most of the federations in Africa. It is nothing to do with money half the time it is to do with management of the scarce resources most of the time. It is also important to get this cleaned up and right because sports is the way that a country engages with the word and promotes itself and its image. For Ghana as a leader in AFrica and a beacon, it is important to do this especially. So how do we do it. Firstly the President has to get involved and say he wants sports to be an important part of his agenda because it affects the youth and it promotes the country and it unites the country. It is NATION BUILDING. Then he has to announce an inquiry into the state of sports and ALL the federations. A procedure needs to be set up that is transparent for voting for the presidents of the federations and a proper methodology for their behaviour, proper procedures for selection. They then need to identify the sports that they can score big in. FOr instance, swimming can be good because it is not strong in Africa. So Ghanaians can qualify but it's no good qualifying if your times are rubbish and you get beat on the world stage. So realistically they have to be foreign based swimmers unless a good national coach can be appointed to the country. But there are other sports such as boxing. Ghana has done well in this and they can invest in boxing and bring a good coach in to develop local talent which is plenty. It also doesn't cost a lot of money for equipment in boxing. Then its about recruiting Ghanaian diaspora children which are millions around the world, who can use the better facilities and coaching staff to persuade them to represent the country of ghana in their sports. This is tricky because nobody wants to represent ghana knowing the system is rigged and corrupt. Why would they train hard etc and invest al their time and money and end up getting blocked by a pathetic president of a federation who just wants you to kowtow to him and sing his glory when he is a fool? So if we get the system in the country right we can attract the diaspora talent. With their success then the grassroots talent can be developed at the same time. So it's five step programme 1) have an inquiry and clean it all up 2)set up transparent governance with binding clarity 3) recruite diaspora youngsters, 4) identify sports that there's history of performance in and those the country can get good results in quickly. 5)focus on maybe 4 or 5 disciplines and in a four year cycle you will definitely see results.
