Asamoah Gyan has been our main striker for some time now and he has never disappointed us, but I also think that players like Essifuah, Richmond Boakye, Jordan Ayew, David Accam, Mahatma Otoo and others have all matured enough to step in the shoes of Gyan, due to his recent injuries. I also believe that a player like Joel Fameyeh and some of the local young strikers could be developed to give our team more striking options by playing them in our friendly and unity games. I love and respect Gyan because he has always given us his best.
God Bless You All.

Coach Grant is absolutely right. That the Black Stars lack strikers has been the bane of the team for a long time now. This is the main reason Ghana has been struggling without success to win the AFCON title again all these years. Just consider, for example, the last tournament that was staged in Equatorial Guinea when Ghana met Cote d' Ivoire at the final. Every keen observer would agree that the Stars outplayed their opponents, but the lack of a striker who would put the ball into the net denied them the title. Even scoring penalties is a big problem for the team.
The same problem of lack of strikers reared its ugly head during the most recent AFCON qualifier against Mauritius a couple of weeks ago when the Stars dominated possession throughout but there was no real striker to put the ball into their opponents' net. Had there been a striker, the Stars would have won that match in the first half with a wide margin. It was very depressing to watch the Stars throw chances upon chances away instead of easily scoring goals and so they ended up winning only by 2-0.
It's thus refreshing that Coach Grant has identified Ghana's major problem and hopefully being the experienced coach he is, he'll quickly address the problem and find a lasting solution to it. This time Ghana must win the title, for we deserve it.
