What did you put in place when you were a sports minister in the Kuffuor era? Did we not go to march during the 2004 and 2008 Olympics? This is the character and Hypocrisy of these NPP goons. They pretend to be able to do what they know they can't, and yet they are the loudest when it comes to making noise. Please spare us the ugly noises, cheap and deceptive power-hungry crooks.

The Government should not send any official from Ghana to lead them, rather use the Embassy staff to lead them. That will save some money.

hahaahaaa! I can say for a fact that the number of 'officials' that show up at every important competition and the amount of waste is incredible! There are great ghanaian athletes who take things seriously and work hard but the problem is always the Federations. basically they can do what they like. The system is such that they are protected. But the system was set up to protect the good guys against the bad guys. Now it just protects the bad guys. There are backhanders that have to be paid if you want to do a competition. There's no infrastructure. The Presidents of the Federations strut about like proud peacocks flying first class. It's a mess and all the talent goes to waste. A major overhaul is needed. There's no reason why Ghana can't get real results across all sports within a four year cycle. But it's got to get cleaned up from root to branch. and you have to have good coaches. bring them in from overseas. Train up the local talent and let them take over. Right now there's a system where anybody can call themselves a 'National coach' even if he (it's always a he) doesn't know the first thing about the sport. But he gets to travel and that's all they care about! The president said 'the task of nation building is not easy.' but sports is the most signficant and successful way of nation and image building.

Honestly Amoah is right, I remember after London Olympics the then minister of Youth and sports promised to make sure 200 Ghanaian athletes qualifies for Rio de janeiro but what is happening now I'm sure we will go to real with less than 10 athletes! My heart was broken when our olympic football team were eliminated in the qualifying series but our current minister came out to said he was happy because we have no money even, that's is insane! The international olympics committee gives to money every country who qualifies to prepare for the event besides it could be a breakthrough for some of the players to get signed by an European club ,it is a great opportunity to advertised Ghana for free!
It annoys me whenever I see other countries matching with over 300 athletes and Ghana has 11! It disguises me!!!
The last olympics Ghana presented 8 boxers, the largest group among all the other disciplines ,can you believe that this coming olympics all our black bombers failed to qualified?
My countrymen ,for how many times have we failed in a roll to qualify for under 17 football world cup?
An event that Ghana was dominating back in the '90s!
When it comes to national issues we should put politics aside!
No matter what one party can never rule Ghana forever ,there will always be a change of Government.

WHY IS THE OPPOSITION NPP ALWAYS ARE NEGATIVITY TALKERS? AS A FORMER MINISTER OF SPORTS, YOU NEED TO ENCOURAGE THESE PARTICIPANTS, YOU NEED TO GIVE THE TEAM HOPE. YOU NEED TO SUPPORT THEM. OPPOSITION DOES NOT SEE GOOD IN ANYTHING THAT RULING GOVERNMENT DOES. IT IS A WRONG ATTITUDE. THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOUR DOESN'T BUILD A COUNTRY, ITS SELFISHNESS. ITS STUPIDITY, ITS FOOLISHNESS. MP O.B. AMOAH, IF ITS YOUR SON SELECTED TO A WORLD COMPETITION, WILL YOU SAY SUCH A STUPID WORDS TO HIM? HOW CAN SOMEBODY CALLED AN HONOURABLE VOICE OUT SUCH AN UNHONOURABLE AND DISCOURAGING WORDS AGAINST HIS OWN NATION? WE MUST LEARN TO GIVE HOPE IN THE TIME LIKE THIS. IT IS A SHAME FOR PEOPLE WE CALLED TO OUR PARLIAMENT.

It's not only about long preparations; it's about providing facilities around the country (not Accra) so kids can start developing their talents early. What did we do with the FIFA monies we collected from participation in three successive World Cups. Why have we not built decent playing fields (not stadiums) for kids in the local communities and in schools. Stupid ET Mensah wanted a Black Stars Hotel with the money. Would that help improve the standard of soccer in the country? Idiots.
