  I'm having a very difficult time trying to gauge the time since when we Ghanaians became so sensitive.
  
  What's the reason for it?
  
  Could it be that our society is aging, and we're thus becoming grumpy old folks?
  
  Could it be that, we are frustrated for having nothing to cheer for since our independence from the British?
  
  I, personally think that, it's because we're becoming a society of misplaced priorities. In other words we're rendering ourselves irrelevant, by losing sight of our individual and collective goals and objectives.
  
  Simply put: it's beginning to dawn on us the extent to which we have failed ourselves, and our beloved country. And we don't like it. Everything therefore has become a thorn on our side, -- even harmlessly spoken-words.
  WHAT A SURPRISE (QUELLE SURPRISE)!
  
  My personal assessment of the state of mind of my fellow Ghanaians in this respect could be wrong. And I get that. At any rate: whatever it is, that is turning us into a society of disgruntled, and overly sensitive people must be put to rest right now.
  
  I believe that my personal assessment here, is correct because it reflects the issue that coach Grant was trying to address. In essence he was trying to say that: if it is the objective of our country to develop football, and become a great football nation, then let's get on with it.
  
  He spoke from the heart, so he added some attention-grabbing taste, -- "bullshit" -- to his phraseology.
  
  What therefore is the big deal that is driving my honorable countrymen crazy to wit?
  
  I can catch his drift. Why can't the people leaving in the same culture that nurtured me. Perhaps, it's because I've learned how to focus on the big picture, and also to keep things in proper perspective. I sincerely urge my honorable countrymen to start learning how to keep things in their proper perspectives, and also to start focusing on the big picture.
  
  In order for us to move our nation from the threshold of mediocrity: we as a nation must stop being petty.
  
  Coach Grant is a foreigner. According to the Ghanaian culture that I grew up in: he is entitled our warmest hospitality, and unquestionable benefit of the doubt.
  
  What are we doing, -- trying to hang this man who has come to help us develop our country -- by his own shoe-string? Is it because we're paying him money?
  
  Yes of course, we're paying him money. But do we think that's worth our bluff.
  
  It beats me why the president has not gone on national TV to pump some sense into the heads of the people in order to put this primitive attitude to rest once and for all.
  
  I must confess that, this matter has made me very much ashamed of my fellow countrymen.
  
  Like the proverbial 'water under the bridge' the assertion by Coach Grant is harmless. It must be treated as such.
