I think Essien is the Number 1. The reason is that Drogba and all the other footballers mentioned here are ATTACKERS/FORWARD PLAYERS while Essien is a DEFENSIVE MID-FIELDER. Being a defensive mid-fielder and scoring as much as 11 goals in the UEFA League is daunting task and having achieved this I think Essien should be given the Number 1 spot.

Your observation about their positions is right on target.
Unfortunately, the criterion, as you can see, is # of goals scored.
But you can write to UEFA to change the goal post, and then we can have your Numero Uno.

ESSIEN undoubtedly number one . a distant second are eto drogba.His ability to make score ,create and destroy put him at enviable position ......hey this rating isn't the true fair reflection
