Not to belittle Harry Thompson for his contribution to live football commentary in Ghana in the late 60s to the 70s, especially his 'over to you Joe Lartey' introduction, Joe Lartey is the best live football commentator Ghana has ever had...doing live commentary from Kinshasa, Zaire/Congo of a match between Ghana and Zaire, Joe Lartey will do a description that will put you in the stadium...using Accra sports stadium as the venue, he will tell you from which direction the Black Stars are playing...very fluent English...as a man who grew up during Joe's days, i hate to listen to now commentators...they dont know even know and understand the game...Joe is the Best, no qualms about that

In those days we had guys from Accra and cape coast who were giving us real football commentary

If Ghanaians had followed his style of commentary, we won't be in this mess today. I suggest the young commentators should start looking for his archives.

For decades, You and Harry Thompson brought a whole country to a standstill and listening to your commentaries was like one was watching the game at the stadia or on tv. I am glad you are still alive and kicking. May Allah Almighty prolong your life for more years to come. It was sad you retired so early from commentary.

Where is Harry Thompson? Can some body tell me his where about after his last commentary comparing Rawlings 1979 to his latter days looking huge as compared to 1979 when he was very skinny. Has he been put in the cooler?
