  The winner has been in the spotlight at Borrusia Dortmond (top eschelon in the German League) Toure had been with Barcelona before he went to ManCity. He has been the backbone of that team day in and day out. Dede is making waves in a team which is not of the top class (check the situation of Asamoah-Gyan). If Ghana had won the AFCON it would have boosted his chances. He needs to play in a top notch team to win the POTY but he went for the big money. Let's wish him better luck next time

  The guy is averaging a goal per match, never done by any African Player in a top league not a backwater league like United Arab Emirates. He scored 24 goals 6 assists in 23 matches for Borussia Dortmund.
  
  In 2015, he scored 41 goals 11 assists for club and country. As at now, he has scored 28 goals in 27 matches. Stop this sophistic argument. Aubameyang deserved to win and rightly won.

  We must encourage dede to try harder next time rather than despairing him. If we go by nyantakyi s logic,then certainly antsu or ture should be winners. I think the gabonese is on top of his game n deserves it.

If you want to judge three men equitably, judge them on an equal ground and the afcon was one where Aubame. was a failure. Let us proceed to look at how the three players helped their respective countries using their World Cup qualifications, they all qualified, hence they earn equal points. Club football, Aubame- Striker, Yaya and Dede Midfielders. Although Aubame is excelling in goals scoring, both Dede and Yaya are equally scoring as Midfielders. So it comes down to the Francophone countries and their bias in voting as per language basis but not objectively. So l don't agree with your assumption that Aubame deserves the award just because he did well in club football. It is based on preconceived emotion not object at all.

  Second, you said Dede and Toure are both scoring like Aubameyang. Wrong, Dede and Toure has scored six goals each for their clubs with less than six assists each in 19 matches played. They are definitely not scoring like Aubameyang who is scoring a goal per match averagely.
  
  Aubsmeyang has scored 24 goals six assists in 23 games, no African has ever done that in a real league.
  
  You said Aubameyang is scoring goals because he is a striker. Give me a break. If you are good, Midfielders score goals too. Messi and Ronaldo are not strikers but wingers like Dede and Toure but they are top goal scorers in the world.
  
  OK, Dede and Toure are midfielders and supposed to provide assists. Still Aubameyang the striker has provided six assists, more than both Dede and Toure.
  
  Back to Afcon, we choose the player of Afcon tournament at the end of everyone and Atsu won the last one so why not give it to Atsu then if that is the measuring stick.
  
  Last but one,Africa best Player of the year is an individual award and not a team award.
  
  Lastly, if it is how a team performs at Afcon, then it should have gone to Yaya Toure since he captained Ivory Coast to the championship. Dede placed third and that is an appropriate position.
