I see no reason for relying on the IAAF rankings for the selection of the athletes. Not every athlete will participate in enough track meets to qualify for ranking. Besides, only a few Ghanaian track and field athletes have ever ranked among the world's best. Selections should solely be based on the athlete's performance at a qualifying trials. Only athletes who meet the A or B standards at the trials should be selected to represent the country.
