Though Dede did quite well during the year, I personally think that objectively Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang deserves it most. Perhaps, the nations cup was a major factor.

I want to deputise for Ogoglo in this case. As of today, Muntari is not better than any of them.
When you watch games involving each of the players, you will notice that Yaya seems to play with a lot of power and appears to control the entire midfield of the team. At some point, I see the City players look up to him as if (which is true in this case) he is the heart of the team.
On the other hand, players like Mane and Ayew have shown abundant skill in their play but have not acted as the "heart" of their team.

Ghanaians and Swansea supporters were either late in voting or were unconcerned about the voting. How many Ghanaians actually visit the bbc sports website when they are on line? They only take to the social media. I think more Ivorians took advantage of the fact that more votes guarantee the winner and so voted massively for Yaya. Manchester City supporters might also have voted for their player. Let more Ghanaians both in Ghana and UK become aware and vote next time and you will see whether a Francophone player will win again. I bet you, if we are lucky a Ghanaian player is nominated and shortlisted again next year and we vote massively, that player will win. Let us blame ourselves, we were late in voting for DEDE or we were just unconcerned!

I think he missed out because he has not been impressive in the last two Swansea matches. That's what happens when you are playing for a team which is struggling. In fact against Liverpool, he was almost like a passenger compared to his earlier exploits. And I think the same thing happened in Swansea's game against Leicester last Saturday. It appears the team's lack of confidence and poor display affected him as well. I would really love him to win the CAF African best footballer award. But I am worried that may not happen. Hope he returns with a bang under Swansea's new manager, whoever it may be.

Dede is new in the BPL. He has to make his mark to top BBC award. Swansea football club have not made waves in the league since Dede joined, in fact they are losing too many matches. Let's wait till next year.
