Grant won the contract over other very qualified coaches with a comprehensive and very encouraging program he presented to the GFA.Among other things,he promised to work with authorities to restructure and strengthen our league to once again produce the Gyans and Essiens of the future.I am astounded by his seemingly lack of ambition because coaches usually fight for such opportunities to create enduring legacies.So either he is not up for the challenge or he just is not interested.A Coach Konadu,Appiah,Afranie or Bashir will be able to perform similar duties for much less of what we pay Grant.I think GFA should grow a pair and recall Appiah and give him carte blanche to rebuild the blackstars from the grounds up.It will take unflinching courage, unity, foresight, selflessness and commitment but we can rebuild again.If we think a fly by night coaches like Grant is going to institute the programs and hard work required to rebuild then we are in for a nasty surprise.We can always get temporary technical advisors to help along the way but we need a local coach who knows the people ,the grounds and the nuances required to balance our intense hunger for silverware with the pragmatic needs for our future.

Ghanaian coaches are humans like the foreigners they hire so what they need to succeed are our full support,respect,trust and the right tools to do the job.With time,they can deliver so let's stop wasting the country's resources on rejected foreign coaches and encourage/help our own.

Has Plolo seen Avram Grant's contract? All we know is that Grant has been tasked to coach the Ghana Black Stars to attain a certain standard. What if he was to pick a completely home-based Black Stars, will anyone complain? In any case, why does he have an assistant? Maxwell Konadu is there to monitor the local players and, as far as I know, Ko0nadu has not complained that he is unable to do the job. Polo should wait, anytime he is appointed national coach, he can stay in Ghana and monitor the Europe-based players.

A national coach is not employed to respect the citizens of a country. No Ghanaian can assume the position of Avram Grant's boss except the GFA chairman. Thus if GFA chairman claims Avram Grant does not respect him, it is a serious issue. However, if any other Ghanaian claims the coach does not respect him/her, it is very odd because he/she has no right to put him/herself in a position to be respected or disrespected by the coach.
Why we expect the coach of the Black Stars, who are all outside, to stay in the country beats my imagination. Who does he monitor? Is it the local players or the Black Stars?
Kwesi Appiah failed not because he was a bad coach but mainly because, he did not have the courage to disrespect the pull-him-down syndrome from Ghanaians.
Avram Grant is different. He knows that, his success will be determined by how successful the Black Stars is and not how much he respects Ghanaian busy-bodies.
