Nana, "lowliness is young ambition's ladder". We can't afford $10,000 each anymore. Therefore, let's kill their "ambition" in its shell before it hatches like what we're seeing now with the BS.

The Asantehene is a King. All others are Amanhene. What criteria qualifies this paramount chief to the status of a King over all others in the land?

Like you said bro, all the tribes in Ghana have the same status when it comes to chieftaincy and positions.
(Am an Ashanti so would only draw my inference on the Ashanti traditional area only.)
The break down in titles and status are these: Abusuapanin, Odikro, Ohene, and Omanhene.
ABUSUAPANIN:
This title is conferred on the most leading member of the individual distinct family. He reports to the Odikro or the Ohene of the large/wider community. He is the headliner of that small unit
ODIKRO:
He is the lead and spoke person of the entire village. He arbitrates, protect and the custodian of everything that goes on in that particular community. It involves in what I describe as 'assorted families'
He is the head of the village.
OHENE:
He is the head of all the people described above in the traditional setting. He controls, protect and take custody of everything that goes on there. He reports to the Omanhene of the traditional area. He is a leader but a sub-chief to the Omanhene.
OMANHENE:
He is the sole leader who takes the lead, arbitrate and protect the entire paramount area. All the above
heads reports back to him. He counsels, receives homage and allegiance from the people under that unique paramountcy.
The Asantehene traditionally, should behave like the Omanhene described here. So technically, he is the 'overall boss'/Omanhene of the Ashanti region.
THE KING:
Historically, the Asantehene, who is the paramount Chief of the Ashantis by his dynamism had unified the region into confederacy in an attempt to fight for independence or self rule during the invasion and the colonization of the country. The Ashantis, led by their paramount chief were warriors who had wanted to conquer the whole Ghana. This brought about conflicts and confrontation with the colonial masters.
"Don't forget, the Ashanti Region is the largest in the country whose language is widely communicated than the rest."( I stand accused or challenged)
In an attempt to 'cool' the situation down, certain drastic political measures were taken against the Ashanti confederacy to normalized the gloomy political weather that existed at the time.
At the end of it all, the Colonial masters saw it fit to upgrade the head of the confideracy into kinship, the essence why the Omanhene(Asantehene) of the Ashantis was raised to that of a King to commensurate with what pertains in the United Kingdom, England, so to say.
I guess, this piece would settle the wandering minds of the brother who ignorantly had chastised the King.
Otherwise, real thinkers of our time would allow him to establish his foolishness until he kowtow otherwise.
Nana's title, THE KING, is one of kind. He who belittle the throne faces an irreparable consequences.

The sacred Golden Stool landing on the knees of Nana Osei Tutu that led to him being en-stooled as the first Asantehene. Prior to this he was the Kumasehene (Paramount Chief of Kumasi). The title of Asantehene (King of Ashanti), was created to unify the different Clans. Although there are various Paramount Chiefs of Towns and Sub-Chiefs of Villages, the Asantehene, is the king of the Ashanti people. However, the 'Asantehemaa' the Queen Mother of the Ashanti, traditionally has dual status as the Asantehene. Please note that it is the 'Asantehemaa', that recommends the selection of the next Asantehene' to the Council of Elders. Therefore, she plays a very important role and holds an influential position. The Ashanti Empire grew by conquring more & more territories in the Gold Coast, Togo, Benin & Ivory Coast. Conflicts with the British & other European Countries arose because of economic trade & the need to control the Trading Fort for Atlantic Trade. After conquering the Ashanti in 1896, the British Government did not upgrade the position of the Asantehene to King, it was abolished. The British Government did not officially recognise the position of 'Asantehene' (King of Ashanti), until the 1930's.

Why is that? WE all know, including Nana himself. That, our beloved country, as a result of mismanagement, apathy and greed on the part of our leaders is suffering the "elephantiasis" of the economy.
It is however strange, nobody, including Nana is not talking about our misplaced priorities.
Why are so many sporting disciplines abound, the likes we call lesser known sports?
I believe Nana is a golfer, fine. But Nana, you and I know that golf is too much foreign as it does not give the average person the chance to participate in it, let alone to compete for. Its a prestigious sports solely reserved for the 'Bushuahays' and or the aristocrats. The attraction is not there for the government to invest in it only to find that game could not be funded.
Talk about swimming and I get pissed off.
Basketball, volley, beach soccer, cripple men's soccer,(handicapped) cycling,
TaeKwando,I call all these "sports harlots" and are distraction to the most popular ones. Should forever remain the accolde "Lesser known sports.
Reason being that, the government is forced to cough up funding for these unnecessary games when there aren't any cash on hand.I have heard stories about players stranded on other sports shores of the world. No equipment and even uniforms, cash strapped trips food, bonuses and transportation.etc ect. Who are we trying to impress?
Could it be for political scoring tactics and antics?
Couldn't we be selective in the sports we could very well be represented?
Beats Me.
