Hearts unfazed by criticism over Kenichi

Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak are unfazed by the widespread criticism that has greeted the appointment of Japanese coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

The former African champions have become a laughing stock in the country following the appointment of the hugely unknown trainer amid fears he will not succeed with the club.

Hearts settled on the 46-year-old after failing to land their number one target and Medeama coach Tom Strand.

It appears the Phobians went in for cheap with reports suggesting the former Aspire Academy coach will be paid a paltry $1,800 as monthly salary.

But the club’s Corporate Affairs Manager Joe Addo has defended the decision to sign the unknown quality claiming the club is not daunted by the latest bashing.

“Even Jesus Christ was criticized. If he comes and fails then they have cause to complain,” he told Accra-based Starr FM

“But we don’t know that yet so when people are talking about the license that he has and a college coach and all that, it could be a point but the decision was made by our highly knowledgeable Board.

“Let them criticize. If Hearts had gone for Jose Mourinho, somebody will criticize. When Tom Strand and Ernst Middendorp’s name came up, there were criticisms.”

Yatsuhashi has no pedigree and credentials which has sparked criticism among their teeming fans.
