Ghana midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah has suffered a fresh injury blow which will sideline him for 20 days, coming just two weeks after returning from a nine-month injury-induced absence, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The midfielder has been ruled out of action for nearly three weeks by doctors of his Italian club Juventus after playing in only his second match since making a return from a serious knee injury.

Asamoah was a first-half substitute as he replaced Roberto Pereyra in the 37th minute of Juventus’ 2-0 win over Atalanta in the Serie A match on Sunday.

The Ghanaian replaced the Argentine who was injured in the game and ended up pulling a thigh injury.

Juventus doctors say Asamoah suffered a muscular problem which has been described biceps femoris – a form of a thigh strain and he will need to rest for 20 days to be able to recover from his latest setback.

“Kwadwo Asamoah also checked in for tests today, which showed that the Ghanaian had suffered a first-grade tear of the femoral bicep in his left thigh,” a Juventus statement said on Monday evening.

“The midfielder’s recovery period has been estimated at approximately 20 days.” Asamoah is expected to be fit for Juventus’ home clash against AC Milan on 21 November.
