I do not think that is exactly what Neville wanted to project. If that is, one must plainly tell Neville that he wasn't the best that ever happened to Manchester United or Everton, either. We all saw how crappy he played in Everton. If he were as good as he might want to claim for himself and not Ayew, he would have stayed in and retired from Manchester United. Gibbs did.

However, when I read the original comment by Neville, I recognized only how he questioned the changed role for Ayew in Swansea. Neville, I gathered, did not think the no. 10 position was the best or most effective fit for Ayew. Neville suggested that Ayew was more effective at the flanks.

That is all. Surely, most players play their best at certain positions only. It does not make them less of a player or unfit for their Clubs. It could all have been an experiment by the Coach to try Ayew at that new position so that some other Player with matching skill-set but uncomfortable at the no. 10 position could take Ayew's old position. It may well be that the no. 10 is not an easy one to play by most players in the Offense, and Ayew may not be the only exception to exhibit that in Swansea.

Let them bring Ayew back to his usual position that proved his effectiveness the most. Swansea is yet to establish itself as a fixture in the Premier League. It isn't Liverpool, Man. U. or Man. City or Chelsea or Arsenal yet. So, it would be most disingenuous for Neville or anyone to claim Ayew is not good enough for Swansea. He may well not be. But he could be even better in Man. U or any of the other commonly acknowledged top 5 teams.
