The reality is that the MLS is understanding that if they can get some Africans in the league the interest will increase. Filling the seats and increasing TV viewership means more money for the league and the teams. We will be seeing more of this. This could be good in some sense. Certain players who might be bench players in Europe will play all the time in the MLS.

Kwarsey, Poku, and Accam may be new arrivals to the league but Nyarko and Oduro are not. I've been watching Nyarko play with the Fire since 2008, and Oduro has been in MLS since 2006 - nearly 10 years - with a stint alongside ... read full comment

I've been watching Nyarko play with the Fire since 2008, and Oduro has been in MLS since 2006 - nearly 10 years - with a stint alongside Nyarko at the Fire in 2011-12. The fact is, MLS teams are looking for quality players from anywhere in the world with technical skills, strength and endurance, and soccer intelligence.
