Kpozo confident in Satellites chances

Ghana begin another shot at the Fifa U-2O World Cup title against Austria in Wellington on Saturday.

The Black Satellites, under current coach Sellas Tetteh, lifted Africa’s first ever Under-20 title in 2009 and there is the feeling that the 2015 edition will be another great camp – but the team has an initial semi-final target.

Ghana who are joined by Nigeria, Senegal and Mali as representatives from Africa this term, have had an impressive pre-tournament preparations in New Zealand and neighbouring Australia.

The Ghana U-20s won all games in a Five-Nation Series in New Zealand scoring 15 goals in three games before switching to Sydney where they first suffered a 0-1 defeat to Portugal but ended their preparations on a good note with a 2-0 victory over South American giants Colombia.

Defender Patrick Kpozo believes judging by the work the current team has put in their pre-tournament preparations, Ghana can go all the way and secure another title.

“I think we have a squad like our seniors, the 2009 team,” the Inter Allies left-back said.

“With what we have done in the pre-tournament games, if we should replicate even half of that in the World Cup then I think we will make the final and win it.

“If you look at the cohesion and the team chemistry, nothing can stop Ghana if we do the same in the tournament itself.”

Ghana, in Group B, begin the tournament against Austria at 5am CAT (7am GMT) on Saturday, May 30.
