What's the difference between Zico and Lord Zico? They are both the same, nicknames. Opoku Nti is not a Lord in the British Empire so why are you crying?

There is a big problem here. Yes, Ghana football is dwindling to its lowest ebb and there is the need to wake up and do something about it.
In fact, I don't have time to do a more detailed writing on this piece based on research and evidence. So let me speculate.
These are the problems.
1. Lack of young talented players.
2. Lack of facilities
3. Lack of character, paitence, discipline and endurance.
4. Poor management of the game.
5. Changing socio-economic circumstances.
Just to list a few.
I'll start with point 1.
Children and young people are very busy with video games and computers. They are busy Facebooking and tweeting. iPads and tablet computers have taken them over. They are stuck in the sofas watching movies and reality shows. They are getting fatter and fatter. They couldn't be bothered. We didn't have that in the 70s and 80s.
So let's blame technology.
2. When we were growing up in the late 1970s and 1980s, nearly every boy gets on the parks, streets and every open space to play soccer after school. It was like a ritual that must be fulfilled. Now, what happened to the parks. They have been sold by chiefs, built upon or occupied by kiosks and containers. I can tell you that there are no open spaces in Accra for children to play on. No parks, no opne spaces and even the streets are busy, nowadays, with secon-hand cars.
So let's blame chiefs for selling all lands to developers and leaving us with no parks.
3. Children and young people lately have no patience to traing for sportsmanship. Thay want quick-fixes. They are busy auditioning for talent shows so they can make quick money and be famous overnight. The celebrity craze has gripped our young people. No discipline, no character no endurance.
So let's blame GET RICH FAST.
4. You can agree with me that football is poorly managed in Ghana. Why must we spend every money on tournaments only. GFA is supposed to spend money raising young and new talents. They should use some of their budgetory quota on developing soccer facilities in some neighbourhoods to encourage young footies. They should start with district capitals and the localities. GFA should get involve with even small town football matches. They should have regional and district GFA administrations. Or creat a pool with Education, Youth and Sports and the Health ministries with each ministry cintributing to encourage sports. This is because they all will benefit from it. Physical activities promote good health so the Health ministry should not see sports as belonging to one ministry. So is education because a healthy mind lives in a healthy body.
So let's blame clueless GFA and ministries.
5. Social factors such as crime and violence do not encourage parents to allow their children to go outside and play. We could go out and play football for long hours and our parent were not worried. It's not the case lately. Social media and other factors do not help in getting children to play football matches like we used to do.
Economic factors include parent not being able to provide for their children so these children go out to sell intead of playing and learning.
We had enough to eat and when we are fully fed the next thing was to go to the local parks to play soccer. We didn't sell on the streets. We played soccer at the Alajo park.
Do you remember Arabian Knights, Falcons, Me & You Babies etc.? Alajo park does not exist today. The Kaneshie sports complex has been left to rot.
So let's blame Social and economic factors.
Im sorry for the sub-standard writing.
