We scored one goal in injury time from a long punt up the field. I am going to tell the truth and call a spade a spade, it was a lucky goal.
Yes we played better than against Senegal, and certainly Asamoah Gyan made a big big impact at the front. We created more chances than we did in the first game HOWEVER, we did not put these chances away.
Even against Senegal we scored one goal, so the goal against Algeria is not unprecedented. To start praising the team as hungry, menacing and putting people to the sword on the basis of 1 goal scored in injury time is a bit premature.
Yes, lets celebrate the team, but lets not overhype it!

When I said the goal was lucky, I was not referring to Gyan's finish, I was referring to the opportunity. It was a just a big punt upfield, luckilly Gyan turned it into a goal. 9 out of 10 times, you punt the ball like that, it goes to a defender and gets cleared!
As for baby jet, i feel him pass you, and i know if we create chances he will put them away for sure.......... but the fact is we are not creating chances, and against Algeria it was a last minute punt upfield........thats why I said the goal was lucky.

Yes we got the result that we wanted and tactically played a better game. But we have to qualify for the Quarters first before announcing our "arrival". As a matter of fact, we need to be consistent and work on some apparent weaknesses in the team. The Algerians revealed some shortcomings which need to be worked on: they attacked our full backs launching most of their dangerous attacks there causing Rahman and Afful to struggle; first on the left back then on the right back. Grant needs to find a solution to that because South Africa play similarly. Perhaps the wingers must double up to help the full backs. Harrison Afful must particularly be careful because he was caught out of position on some occasions but for poor finishing, it could have been disaster. I take the opportunity to say Bravos to the Black Stars though and wish them God's Guidance in their next match and throughout the tournament and beyond.

He has shown he can split defences and we need that. Gyan was starved of services for a long time. Besides we need another sharp shooter beside him. He is already a marked man. And opponents are even going to try to even mark him more stop his deadly threat.

GBSTARS Lacks Depth
This is why the team is struggling. The team lacks seasoned and strong players like painstil(form), antwi(hot and inform), yiadom(experienced striker), essien n muntari, mensah of portugal(hot in portugal lg),.......seidu salifu(knows african terrain and can easily outplay afriyie acquah) and , assifuah(knows how to play infringement of big crowds), adusei(ghana' best player at chan, good aerially, can convert penalties, long passes) and ainooson(can play multiple positions in defence). I said all this before the tournament begun. With these players, Ghana will be beating these teams by at least 3 goals in the opening rounds. But look at this this team grant selected for afcon struggling to score goals....huh. The midfield is weak and the defence lacks veteran leadership, striking is porous. It is my hope that Algeria and Senegal qualify out of this group simply becos they have teams with depth: 2 sets of starting 11s. Can you say the same for gbstars? NO!

IS HE REALLY THE BEST GHANA HAS GOT IN ATTACK? HOW DID HE DREAM TO SCORE THAT FANCY STYLE GOAL WITH THE HEEL AGAINST ALGERIA AFTER THE BIG BROTHER TOILED HARD TO GIVE HIM THAT PASS? WHY DID HE ALSO SHOOT STRAIGHT INTO THE HANDS OF THE ALGERIAN KEEPER INSTEAD OF PASSING FOR THE SENIORS WAITING FOR BALL TO SCORE, EXACTLY LIKE HE DID DURING GHANA-GERMANY AT THE 2014 WORLD CUP? WHY THIS POST-MATCH PRESS SILENCE ON THIS BOY? MR. GRANT, PLEASE SPEAK SERIOUSLY TO JORDAN AYEW OR KEEP HIM AWAY FROM THE TEAM IN CRUCIAL MATCHES TO LEARN AND GROW!!!

It is win or go home for the Black Stars. It is time for the new Ghana Coach Grant to make some bold decisions. This is a tournament and you have to use all your good players. Bring on some fresh legs. Jordan Ayew so far has played 140 minutes and has not scored or produced an assist. It is time to bench him and bring on Acheampong one of the Stars of the U20 World Cup in Turkey. He is plying his trade and doing well in Europe. Otoo and Asante should not get call ups ahead of Acheampong unless he is injured or sick. Afull played well but almost caused a goal because his position at right back was completely exposed during one crucial attack from the Algerians. I still love his overall game and he should be retained. All defenders must commit to defending first and formost. Dede has taken some hard knocks, his foot has been stamped and ground to the turf on numerous ocassions is it time for him to take a break? Start Wakaso and Acheampong and rest The Ayew brothers.
