Contracts can work both ways- it is what is written in it that matters as it can hold both parties to account and there are no surprises. The players can't have it all their own way!

The players just need to hire a lawyer to help them negotiate the terms of the contract so that the GFA will be disabled from pulling surpises on them. I know most the players are not educated and it will be difficult for them to understand that the contract could actually be a blessing for them.

They have shot themselves in the foot by rewarding failure for extension of contracts with fat salaries. Dissolve the ex-co executive members who will not even employ coach AA to manage their clubs for them but have endorsed him to toil with Ghanaian hearts at the highest level to get blood pressures.to become a burden on your Government’s health ministry.What they are doing can even attract Arab spring uprising against your Government so don’t sit down”Otoolege” like that…take action now or you will be voted out during the next general elections.
How come all national teams look at a coach's resume before employing him but GFA employs Appiah before trying to help him to build his resume by asking him to go to and attach himself with some foreign clubs?
If the GFA wants the players to sign contracts then they themselves must first sign contracts with the Government to make sure they pay all monies due to the players correctly and promptly. Above all employ a good coach and not the silent killer

Kwasi Appiah must now realize that you need the combination of both experienced and young players to keep winning.

If the attitude is to resolve the 2014 World Cup problems only around players, then come 2018 we will be at the same spot. It is all experimentation. Yet this may be our moment of becoming world champions.

A contract would be a good solution however can the GFA be trusted to give an equal and balance of power to the players and themselves. Even without contracts they're corrupt how much more with it. If the GFA has a real honest backbone, they would put in the contract "Players would be paid their appearance fees before the WC begins". Besides, doesn't FIFA pay each FA participating in the WC before the games begin; therefore, why the delay tactics? Also there should be a lawyer from the Players' Association to speak on their behalf. If not it is an unfair contract against the players!

Anyways, as an aside, this is very typical of African leadership, where we are governed like in a village of 2000 people where the king takes all the decisions randomly. That worked in the past till the population multiplied 1000 folds, and one person's point of view was no longer the best, and collective interest had been proven over and over again to be more beneficial than that of the individual.
However, it still looks like leaders in most parts of Africa are still struggling to this basic common sense, and opt to stay in the past in this present world, hence we saw what we saw in Brazil.
Coming back to the topic, such contract, if it would be written, is not supposed to be a one-way instructional piece of manual where the players will be told what to do and what not to do, what food will be served and the number of piece of meat in the stew in each food service, and if the players will or will not bring their girlfriends and boyfriends to camp… I expect such document to be a two-way legally binding document, drafted by professional lawyers , not pot belly staff of the GFA, or any deceptive planted institution. The document should list the duties AND obligations of the players, same for the technical staff, and that of the GFA. It should clearly define who is who, and does what in the tech staff. It should also specify from the onset, what level of comfort and discomfort to expect during assignments, who should be in charge of what and a proper channel for immediate grievance hearing. Oh , one last thing, did I say the players should have the absolute right to question the role and quality of the tech staff? Well, on what basis the coach selects his players? Isn’t it by evaluation? So is there any formal avenue for the players too to evaluate the tech staff for GFA to know who is performing and who is not? And for the poor public, whose already meager earning was taxed without pity to sustain those bogus, twins pregnant MEN parading the halls of the GFA, who do everything possible to attend every tournament just to collect per-diem on the back of the efforts of players while doing nothing? This is the ultimate opportunity for the players to address all these problems. They should jump on it and should not let parasites feed on their talents. This is an opportunity to advance Ghana Football, to put sanity in the halls of the GFA and the make the poor tax payers happy for once since 1982. There is no doubt about the willingness of the player and their quality. The only thing that kicked us out in the first round is poor leadership, greediness and “bellyfullness” to the detriment of the collective joy of the people of Ghana. By the way, Germany is in the final, and the only team that gave Germany real trouble was Ghana. Their coach even confirmed their most difficult match so far was again Ghana. I am not saying in any ways that because we drew 2-2 with them so we can also beat Brazil 7-1. But one must be a technically superb to come back from a goal down, and take a lead against that German infernal machine. Not only that, the two goals we scored against Germany were clinical, unlike the cafouillage goals we conceded. Does that mean anything to the GFA or to the so-called leadership, or, are we going to continue putting our bellies first? It is already full! How much more do we want before we die? Change the GFA, not the coach or the players. Get those pregnant men out of our way and give us the joy we have been waiting for since 1982.

The decision to come out with this "INVITATION CONTRACT" is highly premature due to the fact that this decision came out prior to the Over 60 member committe that is being formed started their job. This implies that the source of the 2014 despicable/disgraceful outcome of our beloved Black Star has been pinpointed to the non-availability of "Invitation Contract". This is utter nonsence. My layman thoughts will be to hold this idea on until the committe has come out with their findings and have this included in a suggestion. THIS IS WHAT INFURIATES PEOPLE AND THEY RESORT TO SLAPPING AND FIGHTING bcos in the Ghanaian/African culture the elderly and "bosses" are always right. This is not the case globally and when Africans have tested the egalitarian cultures elsewhere and we have coaches/managers who cannot blend things but stick with the one way of doing things, the end result is catastrophic. PLEASE WAIT TILL THE COMMITTE HAVE DONE THEIR JOB AND LEARN.
