Football is now an extremely lucrative profession. Current players should consider investing their hard earned cash, life insurance policies, sickness insurance and private pension plans, property, stocks, bonds and shares etc. This will ensure they are not left destitute in the future. They should also care for each other. On average, some of the players abroad earn in one week, money that ordinary workers earn in a year. The flashy life-style, expensive luxury cars which depreciate in value and expensive taste in ladies, champagne at £500 per bottle may soon come to an end due to injury or short career span. Few plan ahead for early retirement in the game. By age 35- 40 years, their career may be over. Sports journalism, coaching, management, business and education should be considered as options or alternative careers.
We cannot rely on handouts, pledges and promises forever. In 10 or 20 years' time when the Rolls Royce and Land Cruisers have depreciated in value, they can fall back on their investments or second careers.

I was at Tema tro-tro station in Accra and, I bet, I had to hold my nose. The place is filled with unbelievable stench.

Do you know how much the Black Stars, the Satellites, the Starlets and recently the national women teams have contributed to the economy of Ghana?
The president in his wisdom saw the need to indirectly motivate and assure the current Black Stars and future national team players that their sweat would not go unnoticed should they lift the banner of the country high any time.
This money (peanut) given to the old stars believe me would definitely come from what the nation would get from participating in the World Cup.
Don't just let your hatred for the Government of the day erode your common sense, for what was done is an urgent priority that would go a long way to yield success and boost the economy indirectly as well as motivate upcoming Stars to die for their nation.
So Mr. New York, there's nothing out of place here. If there is any, it is your thought on this subject. Praise Mahama for ones!
