Daniel Agyei denies being transfer-listed

Black Stars goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has lashed at reports claiming he has been put on transfer by South African relegation escapees Free State, one year into his contract with the side.

On Tuesday, news broke out that arguably, Ghana's most decorated shot-stopper had been dealt with a double blow with the Ea Lla Koto placing him on transfer 24 hours after he had been overlooked for Aduana Stars’ Stephen Adams in Coach Kwesi Appiah’s 26-man preliminary squad for the Brazil World Cup.

“I don’t even know where that website [name withheld] got the false information from. When I came back from South Africa, my wife was going through the internet and came across story written badly about me that my team has put me on transfer.

"I called my boss, the owner of the team and he said he doesn’t know what I’m talking about so I should ignore the internet reports because I have a return ticket to go back to South Africa in June and that I should concentrate on my work, [sic]” he told Accra-based Power FM.

“I think if they had no ill intentions, they could have done better by contacting me or my club for confirmation before going out with such a fabrication,” he added.

The 2009 Ghana U-20 World Cup winning goalkeeper whose progress was hampered by injury in the course of his first season managed to feature 18 times for the Bethlehem outfit. He joined the side on a three-year contract form Liberty Professionals.
