the truth is that Appiah did say those things, so MAKA's advice to him is good, BUT you are also right, because Appiah was obviously replying to a reporter.
Our journalists must stop sensationalising simple off-the-cuff comments and answers from people in authority as if the latter called press conferences to dwell on non-issues.
Why did this reporter make this the core of his message: to stir up another Abedi Pele -Tony Yeboah feud?
Our journalists must grow a sense of social-cum-emotional responsibility.
You do this when the player and the coach are retired, not when they are active, and, even worse, on the verge of a huge tournament.

Gyan is the best for the captaincy. He has been loyal to the Black Stars throughout. Essien split with the Black Stars because he feared injuries as he is more loyal to his professional clubs than his national team, the BS. Ghanaians have forgotten his long absence from the BS. Now that he is 'finished' he is turning to BS again. Stupid. I have liked Muntari these days - becoming more loyal to his national team but his tantrums (if it's true) disqualifies him at the moment to be captain. Gyan is the man and all should support him and the Black Stars for the 2014 WC in Brazil.
On another subject: We don't have a good goalkeeper. I would go for Kwasery. Defence is very poor, oh where is John Mensah? Midfield is ok but we need a prolific striker. Prince is the best player in the BS but I abhor his lackadaisical attitude. The task ahead is 'not easy'. We can't use our mouths to win the WC but practice, practice, good physical ability, determination, etc. are key to success.

I think the best thing to do right now is to have the Captain's band passed on to senior players like Michael Essien or Sulley Muntari; the two are the most fantastic and most experienced players in terms of international exposure. Now that they're back, I believe Asamoah Gyan himself will admit that it's only proper to give the band to the who qualifies to wear it and lead the team. It doesn't mean Asamoah Gyan is incapable of wearing it. In the absence of Essien and Muntari, Gyan humbly accepted the challenge to lead the team. Now that the duo are back let Coach Kwasi Appiah do the right thing. Gyan is not snobbish; he's rather respectful and will not feel any loss or pain to hand over the band. Let's not try to cause confusion. Unless Essien and Muntari refuses to take the band, it's appropriate that we honour our seniors. It's just logical thing to do. I hope I'm to causing any problems here with my suggestion. I like all the Black Stars players but the right thing should be done!

At this stage,I think we should all try to constructively support and encourage the coach and his boys in their preparation, bearing in mind the tough group we have.It is absolutely wrong and bad to bring confusion into the team at this point. What is captainship? The most essential point is for everyone of us to help in one way or the other so that the squad can progress along the line into the next stage. The coach has appointed his captain and is satisfied with him.Who are you to sit somewhere and say NO,and rather mention another name? Do you think the coach is going to withdraw his choice and install your`s? This is irrelevant which the guy should not write at all.Sorry any way!

Mr. Vicayou, please. please, don't go there for reshuffle of the captainship issue. There is unity in the team now, and I think Essien and Mungu man were all understood of the situation leading to the enthroned of Gyan as captain. Why do we have to start from the grass roots again? And "what if" our life time General captain John Mensah is also selected for at the final squad of which I vehemently against it but coach MRAA is somebody unpredictable. Are we going to hand him the captainship ban also because he was/is the G. Captain before? Gyan also does posses the talismanic abilities that Essien, Muntari or John Mensah do possessed so there is no need for any changes biaa for the sake of UNITY.

Where were they when the going was tough? We do not need any fickle-mineded person to lead our Black Stars. The modus-operadum that A.A. used in choosing A.Gyan is perfect and must be applauded. The cardinal virtues of every leader are selflesness and dependability and I dare anyone to tell me that A.Gyan does not have those qualities. To hell with Essien and co who decide and choose when to play for mother Ghana and when not play. Even when A.Gyan lost his dear mother, he still honoured the clarion call to play for his country. To think of taking the captain's band from him would be the unkindest cut of all. Kudos A.A. for that sacrosant and unqualified decision, and may the good Lord continue to bless all your endeavours. The detractors will always be put to shame.

Meanwhile, however, Gyan is Captain.
He must be accepted by all because he was there through thick and thin when Essien was holidaying because of his injuries and "injuries".
Muntari is good too, but he's had too many run-ins with his managers, and managers do not promote their resistors.
(In each case, though, I thought he was just being assertive for the good of the team and should have been forgiven sooner).
ESSIEN or KEVIN must NEVER be made Captain; they're NOT reliable in attendance.
2. In terms of where somebody comes from or what his age or longevity in the team is, that should not even be a flash consideration, because what matter are:
a. ability to marshal the troops during action.
b. reliability in showing up when called.

ESSIEN SHOULD BE THE CAPTAIN, NOT GYAN.
Gyan is the best for the captaincy. He has been loyal to the Black Stars throughout. Essien split with the Black Stars because he feared injuries as he is more loyal to his professional clubs than his national team, the BS. G ...

Don't mind the fool. He has warped memory. He can't even remember what happened yesterday. This idiot doesn't even remember Essien never came back till the Zambia match in Kumasi.
Where was Essien when the Black Stars were looking for a captain after John Mensah's injuries? Trust me your memory is too weak.
I think the best thing to do right now is to have the Captain's band passed on to senior players like Michael Essien or Sulley Muntari; the two are the most fantastic and most experienced players in terms of international exp ...

don't mind them, essien/prince left Ghana in a ditch they're NOT reliable...Gyan brings the team together plus he's been there, even ayew left us. If they want to pass on the capt, it should be my main man Sulley
You Sir have enough wisdom and tact to be a leader at any gathering where wise leaders are sought.
Mr. Vicayou, please. please, don't go there for reshuffle of the captainship issue. There is unity in the team now, and I think Essien and Mungu man were all understood of the situation leading to the enthroned of Gyan as ca ...

How can a coach be that dull in his words, very offensive to the other player. Why cant he trust any player and still want he to be part of his team.
We dont chose captains because of trust, we chose them because of ability.
1. Nothing offensive.
His comments DO NOT NECESSARILY mean that he intended to imply that the others do not have those attributes.
But if we take ALL his reasons in totality, we can conclude that Gyan provided him the optim ...
