How many times have you read almost everything that has been put before you to sign in this country? Small thing, they'll present some very "tintiiiiiiiiiiinnntin" documents. Haaaa, sometimes you starts reading and you're already sleeping? I remember purchasing a French program from ROSETTA STONE recently for my brother. I went online and met some very lengthy documents but knowing that I was buying something that I was paying it off one time, I didn't bother myself reading. Guess what, at the very bottom of the documents where I was supposed to check out, it became impossible to finalize the transaction until I check a box saying I had read and understood everything in the documentation. Well I checked and made payment. Few weeks later, I was out of town for 14 days when a continuation of the package was sent and I had only 7 days to decline or they take it out of my accounts. When I got back the money has already been taken but I was ready to deal with it by the laws of the land so they finally gave my money back while I returned their product. People these days are applying every means to make money. I pity this boy but honestly, had the documents been in English kwraaa like it'd have too much to read. We all have to be very careful.

My friend I hear you this is a career contract and it in a different language and he did not bother to ask someone to look over. The issue is our guys are so "pump up" to leave that they do not cross Ts and Is. There are so many lawyers walking in the street of Accra that one would take a look at the contract bear in mind he had played and represented Ghana in the Under 20 World Cup which was hosted by Turkey so he is already a household name.

POW,
You are right, but that doesn’t relieve us of our responsibility to understanding what we are about to sign before signing it. There are predators out there. These young boys should learn from our veteran players to prevent repeating their mistakes. Odartey Lamptey had a similar experience as a young player.
Instead, GFA should institute a policy where these young players fully understand and consent to what they sign. It’s never a bad idea to consult “your lawyer” in signing a career contract. This boy signed a contract in French in Ghana, what was he thinking? This is sad but he has himself to blame for this.

No amount of policy GFA would put in place would not work. The GFA President and past Kotoko CEO were fighting over transfer money.

The problem with Ghana players is that everyone is eager to play professional so in a hurry, they'll sign any damn contract. To me US $3,000 isn't a big deal at all. In such deals, even the lawyer and a translation fee could cost the player half of his pay. Plus the manager of the Tema Club should be asked lots of questions, for failing to stand behind the player when things went bad. His statement isn't acceptable!

I guess this is a fine opportunity to touch on the issue of MODERN SLAVERY.
I work for the UG gov't in Bahrain and over few months I have come across many Ghanaians who have been brought here by certain "Agents" in Ghana at a high fee with the promise of giving them skilled jobs only to find themselves working as "house boys and girls". Their passports are held by their employers for 2 years with the fear of them running away. Some of them are even not allowed to go outside their houses and are even monitored if they have to take trash outside. They cannot buy phone units to communicate with friends or relatives anywhere. The worst of it is that they are paid ranging between 7 BD-100 BD equivalent of about $21-$250 a month. With cost of living here exceeding that of US this money is not even enough for a week. I have taken the time to befriend quite a few of with the goal of gathering their stories and making them known to ALL especially Ghahaians so others are not trapped into the same predicament.
PLEASE THIS IS A TRUE FACT AND LOVE FOR USE TO THIS MEDIA TO PUBLISH IT AND DISSEMINATE VIA ALL MEANS: RADIO ETC TO DETER THOSE WHO ARE SELLING OUR FELLOW GHANAIANS INTO MODERN SLAVERY.
THANK YOU FOR THE AUDIENCE

If the statement above is correct then this is nonsence and epitomises the Gahaian/African concept of lack of respect to the public, citizenry, customer, poor public relation and a bad attititude. He did this young lad wrong and instead owning up to his mistakes he just blatantly blowing people off. Our system of non accocuntability is the root course of a lot of our problems. If doctors, civil servants etc can be held accountable to thier actions, products and services, we will love and enjoy our and never think or travelling outside. Customer service and courtesy are lacking and some of just can't tolerate the lack thereof.
