Why did Appiah not "ponder a return" when things were not going smoothly for Ghana during the first phase of the qualification-- when Zambia had been "gifted" 3 free points by FIFA and we had subsequently lost 0-1 to them in Zambia. Where was Appiah ?.He should have "returned" to rescue us ?. Well, we have 6 months to go to the World Cup. If Appiah starts playing like Maradona, Pele, or Messi, then we will drop Andre Ayew and give him (Appiah) the no. 10 jersey and take him to Brazil,but until then, he should stay retired from the Black Stars and enjoy the tremendous respect we have for him.

The captain, and more experienced, with better technique at penalthy kicks should have taken the spot-kick. He argued with Gyan but was run over by Gyan, and the rest is history.

Another issue: who is going to be the captain? We surely don't need another Akwasi Appiah-Abedi Pele riff before the worldcup. Stephen Appiah can be on the technical bench, never a player on the field. Stay retired.

Then, he would lie and announce that the team would be playing a foreign team, but only to later withdraw with flimsy excuses. I may be wrong, but I think the only credible foreign team he had played was Japan and they fucked his ass real bad.

Japan is ranked lower than Ghana. FIFA knows all of Ghana tricks. That is why we do not move up in today's ranking, although we have qualified for the WC. We drop one point down while Egypt (with all their problems) moved up 13 point.

Appiah, just go ahead and hide behind those old players for Brazil.I know you would be calling Painsil soon because you think Ghana do not have players, especially young players, who understand your colo brand of football.

I respect Stephen Appiah very much but I think this idea of anyone feeling so indispensable should be discouraged. What I expected him to say is that he would be prepared to serve the Stars in any other capacity apart from as a player especially since he doesn't even appear to be playing for a third division club anywhere.

He should understand that if we had always had to rely on the expertise of retired players or captains he himself might have had to surrender his captain's band to Kwasi Appiah to take us to Germany after our qualification in 2006.

It is this attitude of indispensability that motivates our politicians to want to stay in power even when it's clear they no longer have the energy to perform.
