If technical director to the coach is so important, what effect has it got on the Black Stars when the foreign coaches were handling Black Stars during the previous world cups. I believe this man (Grunsah) is working for some percentage because former GFA boss started this nonsense and I think because he is coming from the same region with Grunsah then he has to channel it through him for him also to push it. If technical director is needed then we can get one from the poeple currently around him on the bench.

Unquestionably, Appiah has done better than any Ghanaian could have imagined. However, soccer is a game of changing technique.
One cannot depend on yesterdays plans alone. You will need fresh technical support. That does not mean, that the honor of Appiah will be decimated. The truth is that, he needs a soccer technician to enhance his team and chances at the World Cup.

This idea has been suggested many times. Those who understand football, not only the beauty aspect of it but the technical aspect also, would agree that something is missing from the way we play. This is arguably, the best team Ghana has ever had, and probably one of the best in the world. However, it does not take only best players to win matches. It takes a good tactical understanding of how your opponent plays, how to use players in certain games, and most importantly, how to motivate your players. I am afraid the lack of these have been noticed by foreign experts of the game, and even foreign commentators. Not just a technical director, but a well qualified one with past results to show.

It looks like we all don't have the same meaning for who a technical director is. If a technical director is someone recommended by AA for employment to monitor our players or scout for new good players or obtain intelligence on other teams, then for me, there is no problem about that. Already, AA has competent Ghanaian coaches providing him these services.
But if a technical director is someone the GFA or Ministry of Sports will impose on AA to be his boss because he is considered inferior to be in charge of the players, then this will do more harm than good. It will even be an insult to our very existence as a nation when we think only a white coach can take us to Brazil when we have already qualified without him.
AA has worked with the present crop of players for over 2 years and with this experience, his preparation for the world cup will be highly boosted.
We need to have confidence in ourselves as a nation. There is no reason at all why a team of Ghanaians cannot be coached by a Ghanaian. It is like saying that the job of governance is so complex that we Ghanaians should not try it but rather look for some white man to come and govern us. It is in this vein that our first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah said that, "we prefer self government in danger to servitude in tranquility". In other words, we should prefer AA to a white coach even if AA will not win the WC and the white man will win it. Discovering our lost identity should be more important than even winning the WC.

If that was part of a plan, then no problem, but if not, then we need to look more carefully into our strategic analysis and preparation for games.
