Ghana shd aspire to provide decent standard of living for all its citizens and eschew large disparity in income and standard of living....There is homelessness, hopelessness and high unemployment...graduate engineers from KNUST cannot find employment...Ghana has too much serious problems to be awarding such large bonuses to footballers..I believe it much higher than even oil-rich Nigeria is awarding its champion team..Ghana should learn from Botswana, a country with the highest per capita income in Africa but avoid ostentation and provide decent standard of living and opportunities for its citizens....Their MPs do not award themselves large salaries and bonuses to rip off the country as Ghana...Nyantekyi feels he should also get his share...the higher the bonuses the players get, the higher the bonuses that goes ton Nyantekyi and GFA cronies...Most of the players are just satisfied with Ghana giving them the opportunity to market their talent.....There many players ready to play for free

4. If money is the motivating element for these footballers to qualify for the world cup,(which I doubt is the case; but for corrupt officialdom who will get kick backs for this negotiation) then I am sorry they are not worth their sort!

Prince, just to let you know that you may be one of those people who wreck the nation. If you can think like this means that you will spend all the money in Ghana for useless purposes. We all want the players to be paid winning bonuses, but not to that extent. Prince, you are the very person who will complain about power outage, water not running through your pipe and so on. This is pure economics save some money and try to do alot of things with it. Some of the players can still kill themselves for this game if offered $5000 like other countries. Sometime when people are doing things wrong you must condemn it. I don't blame you, may be you are also enjoying the free money that the politicians are enjoying. So you don't see the suffering that Ghanaians are going through. The money being paid to the MPs and gov't functionaries is very ugly considering the nature of the economy. Most African Politicians are the most wicked people on this earth. In America, the gov't take care of you if you don't have job. Not the same in Ghana because the politicians and civil servants are stealing the money that they could create jobs into their various bank account. So if the politicians are doing the wrong thing you must condemn it. If Mahama want to increase bonuses for the blackstars, ask him how many jobs he created in Bole his hometown ever since he started as MP through to president. Ghana is poor and yet they want to do things as if we are rich. You cannot use donors to do this ABA! If the players will not put up their best to get results then they should not go to Brazil and watch the world cup at home period. How much do they give to athletics and other sports? Prince, you are condoning corruption in the country if you can publish an article to justifies this bonus issue. I can see why the whites forever refer blacks as dumbed. I also supported the idea that some people are calling for an end to donors because the third world countries embezzle all the money and leave the people to suffer. Playing for your country is a duty for many stars around the world but not an opportunity to enrich themselves. Many of these players have relatives in Ghana who are suffering due to poverty. We must condemn what seems wrong and praises what is right. Ghana is not richer than any of those countries you have mentioned offering $2000 to $9000 as bonuses to their players. When some one like prince get an easy money through whatever means can write to support this kind of argument. My village where my mother live in the Upper West Region still don't have light and they are playing politics with it. Time will tell, I am working hard to create solar light to my people when I am done with school. I am not a usually post on this site, but this article must be condemned by all sound people. Thanks.

At least the money goes back to the need y in society when orphanges are struggling to meet kids needs. How can u say such rubbish that if ur bro isnt a player, then dont criticise.
I work in a senior capacity in an oil firm and dont need a bro support. Lets have objective criticsms. Has we lost our morals in this country?

The only information in this article is in the first paragraph where you show the winning bonuses that other countries are paying.
It is an eye opener to see Ghana is paying 6 times what Germany is paying and more than double what England is paying.
However for you to go ahead and try to justify it on the basis that the players perform when they are paid is nonsense. It is too much especially when compared to the other countries listed. If they will not play, then they should sit at home. Football is not that important!
Furthermore, get your facts right! You complain about the standard of living.......I am assuming you actually mean cost of living. Standard of living refers to the level of wealth, comfort, material goods etc so if you say we have a high standard of living, then you are actually saying life most people in Ghana are living a comfortable life, which is false.
As I said, you are referring to the "cost" of living. If we look at the FACTS, the cost of living in Ghana is very low! The cost of rent, fuel, food etc is actually very low in Ghana as compared to the developed world. The problem with Ghana is wages are very low, high unemployment and serious under development. As such, although the cost of living is low, people still cannot afford because they have no disposable income due to low (or no) wages and they therefore think the cost of living is high.
Therefore, the cost of living is low, and the standard of living is also low in Ghana. Nothing is high as you stated in your article.
The above notwithstanding, $15,000 winning bonuses to Ghana is very high when compared to $2,500 in Germany. If you (Prince) think it is justified because you want to see Ghana at the world cup, then Im afraid you have your priorities mixed up. Personally, I would like to see infrastructure developed in Ghana......stop the power outages, stop the water cuts, improve the road network to reduce traffic etc. If we can achieve this, I will be happy in Ghana whether we go to World cup or not!!

The players should donate half their bonus to charity. We want to hear it b4 the match. otherwise we will not celebrate any victory after all we bought it.

I don't know who you are but it is you and people like you who have contributed to the almost hopeless situation the ordinary Ghanaian finds themselves. How can anybody with a shred of conscience support this lamentable decision of officialdom? Did you reflect on the quantum of bonuses paid by countries on whom we depend helplessly body, soul and spirit for aids, grants and other kinds of support? What is more motivating for a player more than seeing himself in his nation's colors listening to the rendition of the national anthem with adrenalin surging through his veins. What more can a player be proud of? It's a shame. Where's morality and conscience?
