COACHING IS MENTORING. IF YOU DONT SHOW RESPECT TO THE PLAYERS, IT WILL BE TOUGH ON THEM MENTALLY, AND WILL IMPACT THEIR PERFORMANCE.
THERE IS A FINE LINE BETWEEN TREATING PLAYERS LIKE PROFESSIONALS N CHILDREN. SHOW THEM RESPECT, BUT BE STERN WITH THEM WHEN THEY CROSS THE LINE.
USE A MIXTURE OF PAMPERING, ENCOURAGEMENT AND TOUGH-LOVE AND YOU WILL BE SURPRISED HOW THESE PLAYERS WILL PLAY FOR YOU. IF YOU STAND AND BARK INSTRUCTIONS AT THEM,
THEY WILL LOSE MORALE, AND LOSE ALL THE GAMES. COACH WILL LOSE HIS JOB. COACHING IS NOT ABOUT EGO. THE PLAYERS HAVE BIGGER EGOS THAT YOU, APPIAH.
WHY DONT YOU TAX THE BONUSES THESE PLAYERS GET? EVERY EMPLOYEE IN GH PAYS TAXES, SO WHY ARE THESE PLAYERS NOT GETTIG TAXED?
THE GFA NEEDS TO REVIEW THIS PLAYER BONUS SYSTEM. DO THE BRASILIANS, GERMANS, FRENCH, ETC GET BONUSES? NAIJA PAYS LESS THAN WE DO. NAIJA HAS A LARGER GDP THAN GH!
AA, GET SOMEONE TO TEACH YOU HOW TO USE A COMPUTER, IPAD...IF YOU WANT A PLAYBOOK OR IPAD, I CAN SEND YOU ONE. TUXMAN06@YAHOO.CA
AA MUST START PLAYING MORE DAMI, CHESS OR CHECKER GAMES. THIS WILL ENHANCE YOUR COACHING SKILLS.
GFA CAPOS MUST BE PROFESSIONAL N CALL ON PLAYERS BASED ON MERIT. WE ALWAYS WANT TO BE THE BEST, THEREFORE WE MUST EMULATE THE BEST.
WHICH OF THESE ADVANCED SOCCER NATIONS LIKE BRASIL, GERMANY, SPAIN, URUGUAY, ARGENTINA, DUTCH, ENGLAND, FRANCE ETC....
DEMAND N COLLECT BRIBES OR "WAYS N MEAN$" FROM THEIR PLAYERS BEFORE SELECTION IS GRANTED? JUST PAY THE COACH N HIS TECH PPL WELL N STOP THESE CHILDISH WAYS.
its time for gbstars to play More friendly games AGAINST TOP TEAMS. RAISE THE BAR.
THIS WILL PREP US FOR THE WORLD CUP. LETS PLAY THE BRASILIANS, SPAIN, HOLLAND, FRANCE, ARGENTINA, GERMANY, MEXICO, URUGUAY, COLOMBIA...NO SHAKING!
EVEN IF WE LOSE AGAIST THEM ALL, WE WILL GAIN SMTHING IN THE PROCESS.
NYANTAKYI WHY SO GREEDY?
WE NEED MORE FIFA FRIENDLY GAMES IN GH. AT LEAST 1 FRIENDLY EVERY 3 MTHS OR SMTHING TO THAT EFFECT. THIS WILL BOOST ECONOMIC BUSINESS AND CREATE MORE INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT IN GH.
LOOK, BECOS OF OUR INABILITY TO INVITE FOREIGNERS TO OUR STADIUMS. WE R RELUCTANT TO RAISE THE LEVEL OF OUR STADIUMS IN GHANA. WAT KIND OF FOOLISHNESS IS THIS?
EACH REGION MUST HAVE A WORLD CLASS STADIUM WITH TRACK FIELD. I THINK THE MIN OF SPORTS N THE PRESIDENT SHOULD FORCE THIS GUY NYANTAKYI TO HOST MORE FRIENDLY GAMES IN GH.
INSTEAD OF TAKING ALL THAT BU$INESS OVERSEAS TO FATTEN HIS PERSONAL BANK ACCT. THE MIN OF SPORTS MUST FORCE THE GFA TO BRING THESE FRIENDLIES T GH. TO BOOST
ECONOMIC ACTIVITY TO THE CITIES IN GHANA. LOOK AT THE MANY FOREIGNERS WHO CAME TO GH FOR THE GH VS ZAMBIA GAMES, THE ESIEN CHARITY GAME?
INFACT, GFA MUST DECREE THAT ALL PLAYERS BE FORCED TO PLAY 3/4 YRS IN THE LOCAL LEAGUE BEFORE THEY R ELIGIBLE FOR SALE OUTSIDE GH.
THIS WILL HELP TO KEEP GOOD TALENT AT HOME N MAKE OUR LEAGUE MORE COMPETITIVE, HIGH QUALITY. OTHERWISE, ALL OUR BEST PLAYERS WILL LEAVE UNDER THE PRETEXT OF MONEY. THIS WILL AFFECT THE COMPETITIVE
LEVEL OF OUR LOCAL CLUBS ON THE CONTINENT. EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED. CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.
WHERE IS ABEYIE NO 7? SINCE APPIAH CAME ON BOARD, OUR RIGHT WING AND LEFT BACK ISSUES STILL HAVENT BEEN SOLVED. LOOK AT JULIO CEASAR FOR BRASIL? HE PLAYED FOR RELEGATED QPR, BUT LOOK AT WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR BRASIL AT THE CONFEDERATION CUP?
EVERY COACH MUSt HAVE HIS FIRST 11 ON DECK FOR ANY CRUCIAL GAME. AS HE PLAY FRIENDLY GAMES, HE BRINGS IN NEW, UNTESTED PLAYERS TO TEST THEM AT CERTAIN POSITIONS.
TO MAKE THOSE SPOTS MORE EFFECTIVE, MORE COMPETITIVE. FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN FROM AA, HE HAS NO STARTING 11. EVERY SINGLE GAME, BE IT A FRIENDLY OR QUALIFIER.
HE CALLS A BRAND NEW SET OF PLAYERS. SINCE HE TOOK OVER, WE HAVE SEEN PLAYERS COME N GO LIKE DONGOMI. all bcos pf bribes!!! female colts player can bribe aa and nyantakyi n gain a starting role IN GBSTAR.
AA, STOP CLAIMING BRIBES BEFORE FIELDING PLAYERS. IT IS PRIMITIVE N WILL NOT BENEFIT THE TEAM OR YOURSELF. BE PROFESSIONAL
AA MUST DETACH HIS EMOTIONS FROM HIS WORK AND THE PLAYERS. HE NEEDS TO LEARN NOT TO ATTACH HIMSELF EMOTIONALLY. THAT IS THE KEY. LAY DOWN THE RULES AND LET THE RULES MAKE THE JUDGMNTS.
IF HE IS ABLE TO DETACH HIMSELF EMOTIONALLY FROM THE JOB AND PLAYER DEMANDS, HE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.
MAYELE, PICK THE FIRST 2 PLAYERS FROM THIS LIST, PLUS 1 GOALIE. THAT IS UR 23 MAN SQUAD. AS THE PLAYERS DIP IN FORM, U BRING IN OTHERS WHO ARE GETTING REGULAR 90 MINUTE PLAYING TIME, WITH THEIR CLUBS TO REPLACE THEM....
GBSTARS STARTING 11
1. DAUDA, KWARASAY, RAZAK BRIMAH
2. OPARE, AFFUL, NKUM
3. NANA ASARE, DAVE ADDY, KISSI BOAT
4. AKAMINKO, BOYE, SUMAILA, ATTAMA LAWERH
5. MENSAH, AWAL( U NEED DEFENDERS WHO UNDERSTAND HOW TO PLAY THE 5)
6. RABIU, ESSIEN, KUMORDZI/CHIBSAH/GYIMAH
7. ABEYIE, KASA, ASANTE/ODJER
8. KP BOATENG, BADU, WAKASSO
9. GYAN, MUNTARI, YIADOM, ASSIFUAH, OTOO
10.DEDE, AFFUM, WARRIS, ATSU
11.KASA, WAKASSO/ACHEAMPONG
"While the players make themselves available, they will be invited on merit and based on the demands of every game." MAYELE
MASSA, U JUST INVITED ADIYIAH, NKUM, ATSU, DAUDA, WARRIS WHO R CLEARLY NOT GETTING ANY OR ENUFF PLAYING IME WITH THEIR CLUBS. DIDNT U SEE HOW RUSTY NKUM, ADIYIAH, ATSU WERE AGAINST TURKEY?
TWO ISSUES WHY GH HASNT BEEN ABLE TO WIN TROPHIES SINCE '82:
1. VISA RACKETEERING, WAYS N MEANS, BRIBERY AMONGST PLAYERS N OFFICIALS TO INFLUENCE SELECTION
2. OUR UNWILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT CHANGE N USE YOUNG PLAYERS. MILO USE THE LARGELY U20 SQUAD AND GH WENT TO THE AFCON FINALS IN ANGOLA. OUR BEST PERFORMANCE SINCE GH WON THE TROPHY IN 1982!
3. WINNING BONUS SYSTEM WITH THE NATIONAL TEAMS MUST BE SCRAPPED. HOW CAN U PLACE 4TH AT AFCON TOURNAMNTS AND GET $60,000 DOLLARS? FOR WAT?
RESULTS EQUAL MONEY. THEREFORE, HOW CAN U PLACE 4TH AND BE REWARDED WITH ALL THIS MONEY? MEANWHILE, WE HAVE NO HOSPITALS FOR WOMEN N CHILDREN IN GH...
base on their performance per match. The lower they perform, the less money they make.
4.GFA, WHY DONT ADD BLACK STRIPES TO OUR WHITE JERSEYS?
THE WHITE N BLACK STRIPES WILL BE OUR HOME JERSEYS WITH NO NAMES. THE RED N YELLOW JERSEYS WILL BE THE ROAD JERSEYS, WITH COLLAR AND
NAMES ON THE BACK.

I concur absolutely with Christopher and Nana Agyemang. This is a nice way of saying Coach AA is grossly deficient in tactical play and for that matter it is prudent for the experienced players, after sitting on the bench and studying the game (doing AA'S job) to could come in and vary the game positively.(Ref Ghana v Zambia ,Essien came in to do the Coaches job for him) The WC is a mind tussle between competent and diligent coaches. Coach AA is NOT capable of reading and varying games strategically. He falls behind in a match and that is it. Difficult situation. It is not too late to compensate him and let him off.We as a matter of URGENCY NEED to bring in a "football thinking" coach-black or white. AA's capacity in all fairness and in this regard is sub and will only bring shame and disgrace to the national pride during the WC. Read my lips!!

Diamond, you can have a goal, but even if you dont hit your final target, achievements along the way should be recognised. Are you saying that if we win silver at the world cup we should not recognise it? What about bronze? or 4th place? whats the difference between 4th place and semi-final. Of course, everyone will like to win the world cup, but even if we dont, let us recognise the achievements of the players along the way.
As for mouth, everyone can talk. GFA can get up today and say we should win the world cup. Will that satisfy you?
what we need to do is set in place infrastructure that will give us the goods to win the world cup. Read my post below and also Anokwale's response to Bob below. This is what will win us the world cup. Not our Government saying we should go and win it. You think Brasil or Spain will say "Gfa said Ghana should win, so we better let them score"?

To get to the Semi-final at the world cup will be a great achievement. Let's face it, we may not even get there.
What this guy should have said is that we should plan to bring through budding youngsters (play the correct ages at the under 17 etc tournaments), monitor and mentor them and help put a winning team together.
He has the right basic idea, but his comments are wrong. To act as if becoming the first African nation to get to the semi-finals is not an achievement is wrong.

An achievement and that's it??? Some of us are so lazy we can't even have a dream. What about being the first African country to win the world cup? Why do you prefer the semi-final? Are we below that standard? Unfortunately a lot of Ghanaians also mentioned that we did very well to tie the best african record by reaching the quarter final. I wonder what's in the mind of the players and the coach? If that's what they went for, then they should all be fired. One psychological advantage why our youth national team do better is because they see it short of anything less than gold, partly because their predecessors did it.

Second goal is to be a team that ALWAYS qualifies for the WC. Remember we have only qualified twice. South Korea has qualified 7 straight times. Even if you take out when they hosted, they have six qualifications.
Third goal is that state of the art training acadamies should be set up in each region that can attract Ghanaians born and raised outside Ghana in addition to local talent.
Being realistic, we can only win the WC if we can score three times a game. This means we need to have two prolific and I mean prolific strikers on the team.

The thing is that our people get too excited and do not look at the big picture. We have gotten out of the group stage in the last two World Cups. We have gotten to the final four of the last four AFCONs. That is not something to be negative about. We have some weaknesses but I think that we always are able to find a way to make a good showing at the two major tournaments that count. If we can get the right match ups at the WC we could get lucky and have a legitimate chance of winning the entire thing but so many things have to go our way. We need a weak group plus some upsets in other groups and brackets so that we meet weaker teams along the way. If we get to the final four and have to beat two high level teams to win it all, we might have the adrenaline to pull it off but I would not bet on it. 2010 was actually our best chance. I am not sure when we will get that chance again.

England have appointed a new FA chairman and he has set a target of 2022!! as a realistic world cup winning year for them. This way, they have time to plan to achieve that goal. But here, we have people like Nana Agyeman (who really should know better) saying we should win the world cup in Brazil, which is unrealistic, but people are supporting him!!
A more realistic and achievable target is say, semi-final, then we look to build on that and take it further. We sit down with no planning for 4 years, and then start declaring (during the world cup year) that we are going to win it!! joke.

Nana! you couldn't have put it any better! I was very disappointed when I heard we lost 3-1 to Japan. What a shame! We should have made it a point to win or the least we could do is to draw. We need to take a leaf out of Brazil. Friendly or no friendly match, they are determined to win! That is what fear into opponents....especially our potential opponents at the world cup. A WINNING MENTALITY BREEDS A WINNING TEAM AND A WINNING TEAM BREEDS INVINCIBILITY!
"After all it's only a friendly." - as most of them would admit to themselves.
Some of our citizens don't get it and will NEVER get it! Their mediocre upbringing does not allow them to challenge the minds to achieve higher than can ever hope to achieve........
We have a serious problem indeed!
Yes! We are always happy with the little we have or the little we can get or achieve. It is the hallmark of everything we do in our country.
This kind of mind-set needs to be eradicated from our society forever!
It all stems down from our colonialist education system we have in place.
We need to start teaching our lot with positive attitudes and a WINNING mentality, right from our nursery schools all the way through to our working lives! Yes! It is taught and it can be done......................

My brother I agree with you about the lose to Japan. The weakest link in the Black Stars structure is the coach. I like Kwasi Appiah but lets face it he is so tactically inept - we went to Japan with a much weaker team so the strategy should not have been to seek to win by playing a running football against the Japanese, but to play a compact, slow passing game to frustrate them. Considering the fact that some of them played on Friday, plus the long flight to Japan, fatigue would have set-in.

We must plan ahead to win tournaments. We have got it right at junior U20 level, but not much else.
Our immediate goal now is to qualify for Brazil. I disagree with Christopher Opoku about friendlies. We must play the best opposition to enable our players gain international experience. What we should not do is to accept these friendlies and not field strong sides as we did against Japan. The level of the opposition should decide whom we field. Friendlies provide the opportunity to try strategies, players and playing under different conditions.
All told, let us focus on qualifying for the World Cup.

You can set goals, but the goals have to be realistic; & I think that's what the GFA, and many of the other national soccer bodies that have yet to win the world cup try to do. You can set your goals high, but if the goals are not realistic, you are not fooling anybody, but yourself. Ghana's junior teams winning the gold in the world's U-20 in 2009 & bronze in 2013 are all part of the GFA's great achievements.

People forget that many African countries wish they could have a program like Ghana's. Yes there is work to do but we have made it to the knock out stages of the last two WC and been in the final four of the last four AFCONs. The losses hurt when they happen but when you look at the big picture, the Black Stars have had a strong program for the past seven years. There are always going to be bumps in the road but overall the program is a good one.

1. "these games will have little bearing on the play-off games since the teams are from different regions with different styles of playing".
There's ALWAYS something to be learnt elsewhere that's applicable to local conditions.
We can learn from European styles and apply them in Africa.
By the way, Opoku, where do the top African players ply their craft?
Who says there are no cross-continental intersects in playing styles?
2. "star players Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari must be made to start their games from the bench and use their experience as well as expertise to make positive impact on the team".
Really?
They can't "use their experience as well as expertise to make positive impact on the team" if they start the game?
3. If the Italy game will come on at least 10 days before the first leg of our playoffs, we should accept.
If not, we should reject because we should not risk injuries that might threaten our chances at the final hurdle.

We are just proud over nothing. We claim to be above other African countries but there is no cup to show in over 31 years: no world cup, no afcon etc. So we are better than Ivory coast, Nigeria, Egypt and Cameroon? These nations win competitions but we dont. We are so proud to the extent that whilst other African nations are playing themselves in readiness for the playoffs, we chose to play Japan and we want to play Italy because we believe, 'african nations cannot give us the challenge we need at the world cup''. Have we qualified for the world cup , already? We are content to 'being the first in africa to come 8th or 4th at the world cup', does this translates to silverwares? Our problem is arrogance and arrogance . Go and watch the match we played against Zambia and japan and you would see that we were tired in the second half of each match. Meanwhile, we are boasting we defeated Zambia at home, when the score was 2-1. we should be worried and concerned as we MAY NOT GO TO THE WORLD CUP. Equally worrisome in Ghana is the manner useful and constructive suggestions are shouted down and how people with useful tips are abused. When are we going to learn? We have only been to the world cup twice and we are this arrogant. What do you want the camerounians (6), Nigerians(4), Ivory Coast (4) , to say? we must be careful!
