After all, there are several players of his calibre in the midfield right now. So why worry? Aside from Wakaso and Asamoah, there are other new lads from the Satellites that can fill the void. Allow Essien to retire in happiness and friendly. Do not create enemity between Essien and Ghana football fans.

The adage "when one door closes, many more are opened is a true reflection of the Essien case. Some had to retire or be injured that leads to the discovery of new talents. Such is the case of Essien. He's done his part and if he's turning his back on the very country that made him who he is today, so be it. I can understand his frustration with the periodic injuries he's been sustaining whenever he plays for the national team and any decision he takes due to that should be most welcome. However, what is and should not be tolerated is the fact that he's been playing "Tom and Jerry" with the over 24million people in Ghana and the diaspora. Such is not patriotism, that is sheer arrogance or lack of respect or discipline. I conclude this short piece by reiterating the fact that many more talents would be discovered in his absence, and it is for reasons like this that I am against "total dependence on one player". More talents abound. Let's continue fishing them out and groom them to be better than the Essiens, Ayews, Muntaris, Boatengs etc etc. A word to the wise, they say in Tamale. And where is Tamale, by the way? North or South? So, a word to the wise, they say is in ....... Got it? Good day, folks. Good day, Ghana.

What about the whom you know or the tribal connections syndrome. The Asantehene intervened for Gyan to come back beause he is an Ashanti. The country's most influential person which is the president talked to Ayews to come back because their his quote and quote His brothers from the north. Does this means that these players are better than Essien. The luster of copper comes with it from the gound.It shines with just a little touch.There is selective favoratism here.Ghanaians must be analytical and probing and call a spade a spade . If Essien were an Ashanti a powerful delegation would have been sent to him to persuade him to return to the team.

As a matter of fact, he hasn't played much for Ghana since 2008 so the GFA should stop pursuing him.

We need strikers and left-backs. There are several players who can play in his position for the Black Stars.

Eseien has been bitten by english media bug which disregards him now and so all he intends doing is to prove that wrong which means not playing for Ghana and picking up any more injuries. For Essien blames Ghana for his injuries perhaps true given that Ghanaian officials play into players such as Essien hands.

Here we are in 2013; & Ghana with a population of 20+ million or more.
