The calling or promotion of Satellites to Black Stars has to be the calling of Akwesi Appiah the Black Star coach Akwesi Nyantakyi has no business even suggesting it he is way out of order and it about time someone bring this guy to order. Where is Akwesi Appiah all these years EBENEZER ASSIFUAH is playing in the Ghanaian league and Akwesi Appiah had no clue who he was until this guy get to Turkey this tell us that Akwesi Appiah is only interested in monitoring players playing outside Ghana.

One thing the writer seem to have forgotten is that Ghana does not have absolute control over our players. Sooner or later majority of the the U20 players will out of the country playing professional football. When that happens how do you expect the GFA to use them to build the U23? The GFA and the technical personnel deal with realities on the ground, writers like you are only idealistic at best, which often do not connect very well with the facts on the ground.

We all understand perfectly right that no one had control over the players. I remember after Italy 91 they want to keep these players and some find their way without passport through Nigeria to go play professional, having said that Akwesi Appiah is the only who qualify to make that determination if he needs to call a player into the Black Stars or not. There is no clear selection challenges for the Black Stars Coach with players traffic jam we have been lacking power in the striking department Assifuah is an add-on I am surprise Akwesi Appiah did not find him since he is playing in the Ghanaian league tell us that he is only paying attention players outside Ghana.

ABOAGUE IS NOT CONSISTENT. HE PLAYED WELL AGAINST PORTUGAL N CHILE. OTHERWISE, HE WAS PRACTICALLY MISSIONG THROUGHOUT THE TOURNAMNT. SALIFU IS GOOD, BUT TOO UNREFINED TO BE GBSTAR BENCH WARMER. AA NEEDS TO INVITE THESE PLAYERS..ASSIFUAH, YIADOM, ACHEAMPONG N ODJER.

The ultimate goal of the GFA is to build a successful Black Stars. That success depends mostly on exceptional talent and motivation of players. To me, the U17 through U20 is enough to identify such players. The Meteors is not the level to identify super talent. The Meteors is only for the Olympics and a packing place for the not so super talented players. A 20 year old super talented player will mature faster in the Black Stars than in the Meteors. Razak, Polo and Abedi all skipped the Meteors and we should support the GFA in looking for as many of such players as possible.

there were no under 17 & under 20 during the days of abedi, razak and polo. there was no competitive tournaments for under 23 during their days either.
in the 60s there was the new horizon, and iam told the likes of sir cecil, the bragging reverand osei kofi, vc10 franklin odoi, nana akufo addo, kofi pare, agyemang gyau, acheampong and a host of others passed through it.
apart from these, a lot of the players in the current under 20 team still need some considerable grooming before they can be of optimum benefits to the blackstars. i did not see gago or essien give away balls with careless abandon like the way seidu salifu did. frank acheampong did not exhibit the cool headness of emmanuel duah in the 18. clifford super but yet to exhibit the efficiency of emmanuel yartey or daniel addo.
lastly there so many players at the blackstars level for selection to congest there with the under 20 players. on a common front, the likes of assifuah, ashia, narh, odje, etc trailed mahatma otto in the domestic league. if kwesi appiah is still keeping mahatma otto on the bench why do you then burden your selection task by bringing in under 20 players who mostly were locals and you never considered them for selection,

Pala let me try to make my points as clearer as possible for you. From your own words, there was no U17 and U20 in the days of Razak, Polo and Abedi. It is also a fact that these players skipped the U23 and they are among our soccer legends. My point is that we have U17 and U20 so the U23 is not that important. I am also not calling for disbarring the U23. I am saying that if a player is as super talented as Razak, Polo or Abedi then keeping him in the Meteors for sake of age is not wise.

your point is clear. i have often argued that we jeopardised the future of certain players by using them at the under age teams when they were at their peak. players like dan addo, emmanuel duah, yaw preko, odartey lamptey, gago, joe ansah, mbeah, awudu isaaka, don bortey, ishmael addo, edmund copson, etc were restricted to under aged teams for far too long such that none of them really left any mark at the senior national team level. if you check pictures of players like amusa gbadamoshie, sir cecil,in the 60s razak, polo, adolf armah, willie klutse, etc in the 70s they really look very young in blackstars jerseies.
however, when i watched this current under 20 team although very impressive i saw considerable number of rough edges. for instance seidu salifu, duncan, anabah, ashia are quite good players but the number of stray passes they gave are quite worrisome. clifford aboagye, odje very talented but the number of unnecessary and feeble shots on goal give some cause for concern. ebenezer assifuah was on fire but seemed to be weak in the leg when wanting to tear away. acheampong impressive on a considerable number of ocassions battled to keep a cool head in the vital area. so cominf from that perception although there may be some super talented players to borrow your phrase, they have not honed it well enough to be skillful enough for the senior national team yet. if that is the case why don't we make use of the under 23 so that they can then transition from there? lets ask ourselves how many of the players of the other countries will be walking straight into their senior national team immediately if they are not already there?

Meteors couldn't qualify for the last Olympic games, because of a clash between meteors qualification for Olympic games and black stars qualifications to African cup of nations, Which meteors could have won gold on a silver platter. What prevented Mathatma Otoo, Tawrick Gyibrin and Morgan Ayew from playing the just ended Fifa Under 20 Cup. We have been denying and wasting the chances of our talented players due to unknown interests. Wake up Ghana, Wake up Nyantakyie.
