"why bring him back to the same role against the same opposition?" Chris Opoku pointed out.
Chris, I agree with you in most of the comments you made in this article, but for the case of Duncan, you missed the point.
As a writer, you should have known the reason Duncan was in the game in the first place. Duncan wasn't positioned as a defensive midfielder in this last match like he was in the first match. In this last match, the player was supposed to play as a central defender, which is not his position. Do you remember due to three yellow card suspension we missed two defenders and defensive midfielder? The center defender who played against Spain, Portugal and Chili was suspended. Therefore, Duncan was asked to play as a defender but not as a defensive midfielder. Therefore are differences between the olden days #4 and the #6. They are not the same.
Duncan just couldn't remember to keep his position. I'm not sure whether any of the defenders was keeping track on him too by calling him back to his position. Besides, with all the yelling from Sillas, I didn't recall hearing him calling the player to come back to his position.
I admit it was a mistake to play Duncan at that position, but there was no one to replace the suspended defenders. This is the reason coaches usually take two players for each position, one plays regularly, the other stays as a back-up. In this case, the player Sellas took as a back-up I'm not sure was good enough, therefore, wasn't featured. Instead a midfielder was used thinking he could have done better at a position he never played before.
We learn from mistakes and I think Sellas will take this as a lesson to build a better team in the future.
The comments made on Frank Acheampong, Chris, I am 100% behind you. The player is ready to show what he can do in the big league. It is unfortunate he just signed a new contract. Big clubs were after him the other day.

What has that have to do with anything if I may ask. You do not have to play professionally to understand the game of football. Therefore by powers confine by the Governor I over rule this line of questioning. Next case.

THE REST NEED TO MATURE.....GOING FORWARD, THE U20 JOB MUST GO TO KONADU. DRAMANI FOR THE METEORS JOB. BORBOR FOR U17. GH COULD HAVE BEATEN FRANCE. The reports from Turkey as I also read has it that the Agents are complaining the security around the players is too tight, hence, they can not get access to the players. When that article came out nobody congratulated the management team for ensuring that there were no interferrances. What are we seeing today? another article to suggest that agents were allowed to inundate the Black Satelites camp. what do we hope to achieve with this article? are we only looking for opportunities to castigate people without cause? God help us

you cannot take two players for every position. There are times when you go with 3-4strikers. When this happens, some departments will have to be sacrificed and will not have natural backups but the coach will rely on some experienced midfielders like Duncan to do their bidding when the time comes. Essien has done that before and several others have also done same. Personally, I don't begrudge the coach for his choices. We found ourselves in an unfortunate situation and we did what we had to do. Don't forget Emmanuel Agyemang Badu held the defense for us in 2009 final match against Brazil when we lost our central defender to a red card and he did it very well leading to us winning on penalties. This is life, and when it gets tough we need to make tough and daring decisions and the people we rely on need to show some guts. Someone needed to win and France did.

You made a good point and supported it with good example except the Agyeman Badu's example brought in. When we lose a defender during the 2009 final match against Brazil, if you will recall, a striker, Ransford Osei, was sacrificed for another defender. I remembered that. This left Adiyiah alone up-front. Therefore, Agyemang Badu wasn't brought back to defense. He just couldn't go in more as he would have. Besides, Brazil kept pressing so our game plan was defensive with counter-attack minded.
Now the reason of having 8 defenders, 8 midfielders, 4 attackers and 3 keepers is an ideal invitation especially when a coach usually uses a 4-4-2 formation. When you have time search for this best football book of the year, entitled, "INVERTING THE PYRAMID" the history of football tactics, written by Jonathan Wilson. So now, why do you think instead of 4 defenders we take 8, instead of 4 midfielders, we take 8, and instead of 4 strikers, we take 4? It is the sole purpose of having a back-up for each position.
Yes, like you said, it always doesn't appear in that way; however, when your main formation is a 4-4-2, you shouldn't miss such a rule.
Now, could you tell me which formation Sellas used mostly in this tournament apart from the first group stage match against France? How many defenders did he take with him to this tournament? Didn't he take four center defenders? Were all of these center defenders suspended? Why didn't he use the ones who were not suspended but rather used a midfielder?
How did Duncan do in the first match he started? Remember it was France. I mean, how was his performance? Just rate him, give me a number between 1 to 10, ten is the highest. Would you agree with me when I say 4? This was when he played in his natural position and couldn't make it to even 50%, which is 5. Therefore how in the world could he have performed better than his 40% performance level when he was shifted to a role he never played before and also was playing against the same team?
What was the coach thinking? That was my point, Massa. What happened to the players he took as back-ups? Don't tell me he didn't take back players for his central defenders. That would have been even worse mistake the coach would have made.
Please don't defend the coach for he messed things up from the get go. We were fortunate enough to qualified to the round of 16. I thought he was going to learn from there but sadly, he didn't. You took players you don't trust. How come?

Moreover he is a deadly dead ball specialist something we never had in the team.We definitely blew the chance.I think I have to disagree with you on Baba Rahman, the guy is amazing going forward but his defending leaves a lot to be desired,he is an average if not a poor defender but certainly Ghana have a future in the Aboagye, the Attamahs, the Acheampong and the Salifou not forgetting the goal Eric Antwi. These guys can certainly make the grade for the senior team.Assifuah on the other isn't ready for the Black Stars,he has A LOT to learn,he can be great but he falls down so easily, should stay on his feet and keep the ball.

In as much as we are all entitled to our opinions, I think sometimes we should show or give those in charge of our soccer teams some breathing space. What if the team qualified for the finals? Will Chris Opoku still come out with his " technical know-how? Hindsight they say is always 20-20. Sellas Tetteh knew what he was doing. He has proven himself thus far. He ill not put out a squad to fail. He also wants to win. In this case, it just wasn't our day. That is the reality of soccer/sports. You win some, you lose some.
