All the players were talented and dedicated. The performance in defense was however poor. The midfield did not defend well and so was the back four. Goalkeeping was also not good enough. I think coaching was the problem.

Whoever selected Anaba and Nketiah Will have some questions to answer.
Also a coach should be able to use alternatives and I am afraid they do not understand that. When strikers are man marked, you use them as decoy and get some one to strike. Acheampong and Aboagye could have scored most beautiful goals but no one asked them to score but rather pass all balls. Those two players were the revelation. We need to add them to the future Ayew team for future world cup and Ghana will bring the cup home in 2018.
These crop of players we have are jokers. They may qualify to go to Brazil and just joke on the field. I don't trust them, because they have no vision.

Where as we have talented stylistic players in Ghana, we turn not to cover appropriately. All of the goals by France were easy, which even USA will not concede such goals. We allow France to go. through in the eighting yard box, instead of clever foul or tight hussling to disrupt the movement. This is a problem of all Ghanaian teams. The France defence were doing that against our players.
Partly, I question the referee who hindered our players movements by unnecessary whistles for contact tackling. Players begin to be scared of yellow card in the first half. I guess they didn't want Ghana to become the recipient of two crown champions of that tournament.

Why were the players playing air ball when they were the shortest? It doesn't make common sense. Ghana has one of the shortest squad even at the senior level but we always cross the ball in the air for someone to head. Because you see that on TV doesn't mean that's the right play for Ghana too. Pullout should be banned in Ghana soccer. We were playing against tall players of France and the number 7 guy made all ( I mean ALL) the corner kicks through the air. That doesn't make any sense at all. I was expecting the coach to tell them they have airball disadvantage but he also never saw that. Oh Ghana.

Our coaches are not well inform. Look at how timid he is to criticise his players to do better next time. The midfield aboagye is very skillful player in terms of dribbling, but could not dribbled France who has skillful-giant-strong built players. USA was abled to tied France because of closed size and spain beat them because Spain was good in defence. Ghana should have played their game down balls with effective passes, using the chances well. The had plenty of them, except whenever they tried to use hussling tackles to recover the balls they got fol calls in the beginning cautioning them of yellow cards that slowed them down in the first half. The second half it was do or die so they took the risk.

I have realized that there is no way an African football side would get a fair officiating in a World cup competition at any level and in any match .They just allow us to participate just because it's a so called World cup competition and they cannot isolate African teams , you could even hear their commentators say things like, the Africans only play physical football ,is football played by bed ridden sick people ? I just can't imagine how some of these European referees feel when they officiate bias against Afriacan teams ,it's a shame but i think the blame should always go to the African Football Confederation ,"CAF" or whatever they call it ,they have to complain and protest where necessary and should not sit on their asses while being cheated and manipulated because they are always at the receiving end when it comes to finance and technology issues .Stop bias officiating and Racism or exclude Africans from participating in World cup football competitions .Issa Hayatou and his old fashion staff should also give way to new brains .

You are right. Just as much as we may criticize the way the defence allowed those two cheap goals, we must realize that here was a referee who would not have hesitated to issue a yellow, red or even a penalty against our boys. Right from the get go, you could see this referee was doing Sepp Blatter's bidding to push France, a European team, into the finals. Everybody knows the historically poor showing of European teams against African teams in the semis of this competition, just one victory in five encounters. They were scared of the future Black Stars of Ghana and Africa. But they are kidding themselves. The writing is on the wall. Why should this referee whose country bribed Sepp Blatter to stage a World Cup in 2022 not continue with the bribing?
I honestly and with all due respect disagree with Coach Tetteh on the apportioning of blame for the goals. Baba Mensah did not do his work well, he blew the cover on the first goal and the goalkeeper was woefully out of position on the second goal. Soft goals sink Ghana, but this is football.
Overall, this team was a joy to watch and they are definitely among the best in the world at this level. No country would feel comfortably meeting them in any competition.
Finally, we were missing FIVE PLAYERS who have played continuously in for mathches and were used to each other and the competition; Lartey, Attamah, Odjer, Nketia and Eric Ofori Antwi. It was too much for the team and yet they accorded themselves honorably and with distinction.
Compare this team with Akwasi Appiah's teams and the verdict is clear.

You spend your whole time in fantasy thinking that you are coaching a national team somewhere, maybe in the moon. Then, you come on Ghanaweb to spew out your fantasy and calling real coaches names.
You called Appiah "mumu coach" and now you are saying Tetteh is not a good coach. Well, Mr. Sicko, there are hundreds of national coaches on planet earth (not on the moon where your mind resides) but only Tetteh and a handful of international coaches have won a world title.
I am also confident that Appiah will take Ghana far.

You've become one of your wards. It is a known fact that in trying to communicate with mental patients, their care-givers would have to think like them so that they are on the same page with them. But, unlike other people in your field who can easily switch between the real and unreal world, because of stuff you may be smoking, or because of your weak mind, you got trapped in that "altered state."
They should have done a psychological evaluation on you before giving you that job. Now, you are all messed up. But, it is not too late. You should check yourself in for treatment ASAP before you start hearing voices, or referee whistles, for that matter.

I don’t understand why Ghanaians believe everything must always go their way, and not the other way. This belief is not healthy and it is very “childish” (for lack of better word to describe this collective negative behavior). I don’t think a word has even been invented to describe this “we are God’s gift to humanity in all things” belief among Ghanaians. It is a very embarrassing behavior and we need to grow up of it.
We must accept the fact that we could not beat France because they were better than us. This time around, they had better resources than we did in talent and organization. Our local league is in shambles and in need of development. We couldn’t even make the Olympics. What a country.

It really hurts when you miss out on the last game before any finals, but when you look at it, Nigeria, Egypt and Mali could not come this far so we have to take our progress and move on, there is always another time and another chance. I don't think Ghana fielded any over-age players in this tournament. These days, FIFA uses imaging technogy to test for age-cheaters. Furthermore, at the this level, age-cheating would be actually counter productive, since everyone is practically an adult. Plus, if I were a coach at this level, I would go younger, rather than older, in order to cope with the speed and other physical demands of the game at the level.
France was just too strong and resourceful than any other team in the tournament. Their players, especially their African players, were physically too strong for our boys.
Black Satellites killer Florian Thauvin is a tall and highly-skilled 20-year old Frenchman who plays for Juventus.

For the fact that you don't like the FA doesn't give you the permission to hate every national team under that FA. Most of us don't like most of what the FA does; however, when the team is assembled and off for tournaments, we have no choice but to give our support. Yes, we can agree and disagree, but when it comes to tournaments, when the final selection is made, it is our duty to unite and give our all. In case you don't realize, the players out there are given their all to please us. This is what you may not know. Therefore, I don't see why you don't understand when I say you are not a Ghanaian.
"With the exception of todays match against France that we played 50-50 ball possession, the rest was under 50%.Now compare that to Brazil that won the confederation cup and let us know how many matches they played less than 50% ball possession." Rasheed indicated.
Look, Brazil may have had more possessions than its competitors in the tournament you mentioned, on the contrary, the end results were not totally based on their possession percentages. You are trying to make a point but that doesn't hole water with me for I argue with facts. Brazil's Confederation Cup wining was based on their tactical and technical superiority over their opponents. The mapping of how to approach each match, orchestrated by Scolari, was different. The way they played Italy at the group stage was different from the way they played Uruguay at the semi and Spain at the finals. They played Italy with a little hash as the beginning and slowed the game down in the second half. Against Uruguay, they played a little bit calm at the beginning and pressed on them at the second half. Unlike their final match against Spain, the Brazilians want all the way with aggressiveness from the beginning to the end. It was a strategical planning by the coach. In other words, don't compare that with ours. They are to different competitions and two different coaches and with different players. Know the difference, Pal!
Rasheed, this alone tells me you know about the Beautiful Game, "Football" yet will need to study it more. Get intimate with it a little more.
Where in the rule book of football has it written that the more possession you gain, the desired result is guaranteed at the end of the 90 minute of a game? If we haven't observed anything in football, at least we can take the UEFA Champions League final in 2012 between FC Bayern Munich and FC Chelsea on 19 May 2012 at the Munich Allianz Arena as an example. Which of the two clubs possessed the ball more than the other? Take that as your assignment. What happened at the end of that final?
Here is another example with facts, Bayern against Barcelona, 2013 semi-finals in Munchen.
Goals: 4-0 Bayern
Attempt on target: 9-2 Bayern
Attempt off target: 4-2 Bayern
Corner Kicks: 11-4 Bayern
Yellow Card Committed: 4-3 Barcelona
The most importantly, possessions in %: 63-37 Barcelona.
Have you seen the difference between Attempt on Target and the Possessions? What do you see wrong in there?
Here are other facts: Dortmund vs. Real Madrid, UEFA Champions League Semi-finals in Germany.
Dortmund 47% ball possession, Madrid 53% ball possession. Who won? 4-1 Dortmund, right?
Barce/ Bayern at Spain, 57% against Bayern's 43% but the end result was 3-0 Bayern. These are just few.
What do you say about these facts, my friend? Football is a game you can't based your winnings on only possessions gained. I admit, it is beautiful to watch your team holding onto the ball more than the opponent; on the contrary, the end result is what matters.
By the way, do you desire for more facts because I have them packed. Let me know if you so wish and I could send them to you through USP in packages.
Now, let us move on to our own players. Here was what you said about Frank Acheampong.
"Frank is still struggling at the club level,as he is currently on loan at anderlect." Rasheed's statement.
Sir, why do you have to lie? Why can't you base your argument on facts? The player is not on loan. He signed a million dollar contract with his current club. The most lucrative signing in his previous club's history and also the record for the Thai Premier League. If he wasn't that good, do you think he would have been contracted with such a record amount? So, what are you talking about?
Below is the evidence, opss, the fact I got from research.
This is what Wikipidia, and most trusted site in terms of football, Transfermarket, say:
"On the 16th of April 2013 Acheampong signed for the Belgian champions R.S.C. Anderlecht for a fee of 1 million euros (37 million Thai Baht) which is the record for the Thai Premier League...."
Now are you still saying Frank Acheampong is on loan or has been contracted? You know little about the player and the game you love. Get your facts ready then come back, I will be waiting for you.

Yes, Frank Acheampong may struggle a little but I believe will get it when more opportunities are given to him. The young man has the skills and could fit in well with the big boys. Testing him at the U-23 level, as you insist, would serve the purpose.
By the way, what would you give after we beat Iraq with hands down? Let us make a deal. You will appear on this site everyday commenting on every article for a month with this statement, "I was wrong about the national teams, I have now realized that they are good." Is that a deal my good friend?

I agree with Sillas, the Satellites were unlucky but the point is they could not be lucky though out the tournament. This game could have gone either way. France wasn't that great, they were lucky as well because the Satellites had some opportunities they too could have scored. An example was the one Frank Acheampong took at the left flank and shot it across the 18 which Assifuah couldn't connect. It wasn't their day and therefore, it meant to happened.
Remember, the ones we were not even supposed to win based on all stats, we won.
Don't let us forget that the opponent came into this match with its plan and it worked. When you go back and watch the match, you could notice that in the first 15 minutes, our boys were controlling the tempo of the game. All of a sudden, France began to play wicked which ended up eliminating our best goalkeeper from the game.
Already, our main defenders and the midfield general were all suspended. Therefore, the back door was wide open for execution. The opponent took advantage of our weakness and won the match.
Moreover, we were to be eliminated at the group stages if it wasn't a luck. So you see, the luck place in both ways.
One thing we could praise ourselves with is the fact that we have at least six players we could count on in terms of future invitations. This match has also pointed out the importance of a strong bench. Our bench should have contained the same qualities as our regular players. In this way, there would be no struggling when others are in suspension.
Looking at it in a positive way, we should be glad and rejoice for the future looks bright.

I don't call this luck but bankruptcy in techniques and reading the game. The French you know are bigger and technically gifted but the second half they appeared tired and especially after our goal. So what the boys should have been told to do is not hang on the ball and charge like rhinos against the French who were simply too happy to wait at their goal area. The forwards and midfielders played selfishly instead of laying passes for their colleagues at the right time to score. If they had been chipping balls in the way of colleagues in more advantageous positions, we should have beaten France. so Mr coach luck was not to play in this.

to win every soccer game. We didn't even have one big name of the U-20 age group going into this tournament. Could any of the 3 Greats - Brazil, Argentina, Germany even qualify for Turkey? The 2 best teams - Portugal and Spain - could they reach Ghana's milestone? We don't break people's spirit because they failed when in fact they did their best. No team can avoid a few mistakes in a match. We all had same opportunities; did you ever played once for your country? Or what are u doing now in helping your country as a patriot? At least there are lots of voluntary services including cleaning clogged gutters - are u doing any like that. ONLY ONE TEAM WINS A TOURNAMENT and whilst can be said the country abounds in soccer talent, we have never had a best talented team, even in Africa. Congrats, Satellites.

The referee was ridiculous and did not even see how dirty the french are, some of the fouls ruled against the satellites was ridiculous. Also in a very competitive games like that every opportunity counts and must be taken, failure to capitalized on the opportunity to score can resort in defeat. The defense was lacking game reading especially the first goal, the left full back should have made a quick thinking that there was going to be a wall pass between the two french players and take cover but instead he waited on the right hand side of the striker and could not tackle properly and was swerved and left completely, the goalkeeper did the right thing by moving forwaed in case he shoot but was also swerved and left the empty net for the ball to be tapped in. The most cheapest goals of the tournament by every standard. But the satellites came back very well in the second half and chances after chances after the equalizer but could not convert. The satellites to me played very well in the second half but lack of game reading cost the satellites dearly. This is football and lessons are to be learnt for any future games not to be repeated. Semi finals wasnt too bad and the boys need to be congratulated though. The equalizer was a fantastic goal. The french were rough and had the referee on their side most of the time and that was very bad for the game.

Kojo,
While you may have a good point, I want to remind you that team spirit, technical know-how and ability to read a game could win games. Mohammed Ali was not stronger than Sony Liston, George Foreman and Frazier but Ali beat them with game plan. Atalanta beat Barcelona with determination and game plan. Celtics beat Barcelona with good play pairing and field organization.
Ghana has good boys, it is the Coach's duty to pair certain players and instruct them to either play long passes or short passes. I mean game plan.
I realized that Boakye Yiadom was always used as a reserve player. Boakye came in during Chile game and stirred up the game. Same happened with the USA game. Against France, we had three key starters suspended, then our # 1 goalie Antwi got injured. It beats me why the Coach kept Boakye on the bench until ten minutes to the end of the game.
Unless you do not understand the game, the Coach could have done better pairing and better defense organization for better results. Be aware that, Ivory Coast have the best players in Africa, yet they are unable to win continental Africa trophies.
Agreeably, this game was not our game to win. The referee was unfavorable in a case when Ghana should have been awarded a clear penalty. Many of his calls and warnings to our boys just killed their momentum.
The interesting thing about football is for soccer fans to analyze games after a game.
So let the debate go on. Ghana cannot win all the time, but we could always do better.
