It looks as if this writer has a problem with Gyan. How can he give him 45% and 58% to Emmanuel Frimpong? I doubt he really watched the match. 45%? Give me a break.

POW, to me even the 58% given to Frimpong wasn't right. It is lower that I gave him. I will say 65% because the player was playing according to the text book of his position.
I agreed with the writer in all his assessment except Emmanuel Frimpong's.
Here is my reason. The basic rule for a defensive midfielder is to release the ball as quickly and accurately as you could. The reason is, as a defensive midfielder, you are the heart of the defenders. That is why this position is called the engine of a team. The lest mistake you make, the more pressure you pile on your defensive line.
Remember, the responsibilities of a defensive midfielder is not the same as the responsibilities of an offensive midfielder. An offensive midfielder has the room to maneuver before distributes the ball, whilst a defensive midfielder has to play the one-two and the give-and-take touches to distribute. This is purely football text book knowledge.
Here are some examples. We have all seen Essien playing both positions for Ghana and for Chelsea. When he plays the defensive midfield, do you see him taking the ball to the opponents that much? He does that mostly when it is a team's counter-attack. I'm talking about an up-ward movement. He rather players one touch with give and take. He gives the ball out to his teammate, separates himself, and then gets it back to change direction. When Essien is playing for Ghana, he usually plays the offensive midfield position. This gives him the opportunity to play roaming by holding the ball longer than his usual does with the one touch style of play.
Watch Xavi Alonzo, Real Madrid, watch Xavi Hernandez, Barca, watch Andrea Pearlo, Juvantus, and the rest of the defensive midfielders. They don't hole balls that long; unlike their offensive midfielders who may either play in front of hem or alongside them with a 4-4-2 diamond plan.
I think you get my point, POW. Emmanuel Frimpong played yesterday what he was instructed and what the text book indicates. Did you see any mistakes in Frimpong's passes? Was there any wicked pass from him? When I say wicked pass, I mean a pass that puts a team-mates in danger.
Everyone can hold possession for long, but the end product of a player's distribution is the key. Yesterday, Frimpong's passes were accurate and he hardly made a mistake. As a defensive midfielder, that is required from him.
Therefore, I don't see why the author of this article gave him that 58% with his reason as the player plays with a British Style.

You absolutely got Frimpong role perfectly. The reason I used him as an example was the fact that Frimpong played less than 30 munites of the whole game. Gyan played more but wasn't a great day for him. However, he scored a goal, fought for balls and made some good distributions, so why 45%? That was so mean. We just have to be fair in our assessments or just don't do it. The level of hatred exhibited by this guy on Gyan's assessment clearly shows.

Where is Mr. N, The Stallion? Is he hiding now? I thought he would had been here celebrating with us. What happened to him?
I promise not to bring the past to hunt him. After all, he was included with those who advocated in nominating this coach whilst I wasn't. I was totally against it because I didn't think it was time for Appiah to take over at first. However, I saw the potential and the humility in him and so decided to back him up after AFCON 2013.
Look Mr. N, don't be like Elijah in here hiding in caves. Come out and be free. Elijah was fed whilst he was in caves. You though, I don't think we have that bird to feed you. Moreover, a beard that will last 40 days and 40 night in your system, has been consumed by Mr. Kojolee. I see he has been hiding for more than 40 days.
Come-on Mr. N, I know you are dying to give your opinions on yesterday's match. I'm waiting. It better be good though, because for this match, Appiah brought his best. He has room to learn but he did most things well yesterday.
Therefore, I'm here waiting for your comments.

Were these players not available for the AFCON games? Why did he not call them when all Ghanaians suggested so. Appiah is now learning that you cannot toy with Ghanaians when it comes to football. In this era of internet a coach can know more about players if he reads and listens to suggestions from the thousands of fans and other coaches that write on sports. Modernity through the speed of the internet should be an asset to any discerning coach. Appiah should note that "where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety". Appiah, be humble, listen to Ghanaians and you will not fail. After all we know almost all our player more than you as a single individual.

“A game that saw former England youth international Emmanuel Frimpong makes” – should be “make”.
“Let’s access the team” – should be “assess”
“based on individual performance” – should be “performances”
Fatawu Dauda-Goalkeeper
“The Ash-Gold goalkeeper although not seriously threatened on the day his demeanor, communication, reflexes and decision making was excellent” – poor punctuation and sentence construction
“He is credited 55% for his work rate because he was not put to the tested” – should be “test”.
Richard Kisi Boateng- Left Back
“ on the day his defensive prowess were superb” – should be “was superb”
but always found wanting when the team it surging forward – poor sentence construction.
“He was station” – should be stationed
“No pull out” – should be pull back
“unusual of a Ghanaian left backs” – should be left back.
He scored 55% in the regard – poor sentence construction.
Harrison Afful- Right Back
“As tinny as he is” – should be tiny…one “n”, not 2!
“mantle is left on their shoulders” – should be HIS shoulders!
“his surging runs exceptional and indeed well calculated pull outs” – poor punctuation and sentence construction
John Boye- Center Back
“good with all area balls” – should be aerial balls
“excellently opens up” – OPENED up
“ Fatawu grabs the ball” – GRABBED
The whole of the last sentence is poor anyway!
Isaac Vorsah- Center Back
“He is my man of the match irrespective of the sudden demise of the beloved father he was able to play his heart out resulting in Ghana not conceding” – Should be a full stop after match. Secondly irrespective is not the most appropriate word to use in this sentence.
“always seen behind doing the necessary mop-up” – poor sentence construction
“He had 80% marks in his basket” – poor sentence construction.
Rabiu Alhassan Mohammed- Midfielder
“ In the game though he did not last the entire duration of the game his presence was felt” – poor sentence construction
“all the Sudanese attack” – attacks
“did a very good distribution as well” – poor sentence construction
“secured 67% mark” – why do you even have to say mark after saying a percentage? Sixty-seven percent mark may not be wrong but it doesn’t sound right.
Wakaso Mubarak-Midfielder
“As forceful as always he was at his peak again” – should be a comma after “always”. Secondly, the whole of the first sentence is too long!
“on the break at a point in time via his long and incisive passes” – at which point in time? Poor sentence construction
Sulley Muntari-Midfielder
“After missing in action” – poor sentence construction
“made his return but it never appeared he was making a return after all” – poor sentence construction which does not really convey the meaning of what you are trying to say.
“defended very well when the opponent is in control” – mixing past and present tense. DEFENDED indicates past, IS indicates present tense.
“He is also awarded 60%” – poor sentence construction. Are you awarding these marks arbitrarily, or are the players earning them?
Asamoah Gyan- Attacker
“ touch-wood looks more like a humorist than a footballer” –WRONG CONTEXT!!!! – Touch wood is used when you hope for the future, e.g. you want bad luck to stay away or good luck to continue. It is totally out of context in this sentence as the bad thing (looking like a humorist (sic) – should be humourist by the way) has already happened. This is what happens when you try to use phrases that you have heard but clearly do not understand the meaning of.
“In the game he played for” should be a comma after “game”. Poor sentence construction by the way.
“only fifteen minute” – minutes
“ resulting in his goal afterwards he was” – full stop after “goal”.
Abdul Majid Waris-Attcker
“ missing in action” – you really like this phrase don’t you? You have used it is almost every paragraph”
“Sudanese defense regarding his endurance” – regarding is the wrong word to use here
“Aside his magnificent goal” – aside is the wrong word to use here
“he also won clear penalty” - won A clear penalty
“For his excellent display I dash him 68%” – BULLSHIT!!!! You do not dash him marks. He EARNED the marks by playing in the game. It’s like, I do a job for you, and when it is time for you to pay, you say you are DASHING me the money! You are not DASHING it to me, I have EARNED the money!!
Kwadwo Asamoah-Midfielder
“For this player I think the least said about him the better” – poor sentence construction.
“performs creditable” – creditably
“was sluggish, looks heavy” – again mixing present and past tense. WAS, past tense, LOOKS, present tense.
“goes forward when attacking but dropping back to support the defenders was a problem, “ – poor sentence construction, and you need a full stop, not a comma, after the word “problem”
“I think he deserve 59% following his working” – should be DESERVES. Poor sentence construction as well.
Substitutes
Emmanuel Frimpong-Midfielder
“Nothing really showed that indeed it was his debut game” – this sentence does not convey the true meaning of what you are trying to say (which I believe is that he played so well it was difficult to tell that this was his debut game with the team)
“He brought to bear the quick ‘one- two’ play in British parlance” – WRONG CONTEXT!!!! Parlance refers to a way of SPEAKING, not DOING things.
“He was not seen too much in the game because he hardly wastes time on the ball” – mixing present and past tense again. “was not seen”; past tense, “hardly wastes”; present tense.
“which is a typical British style” – poor sentence construction. Should be “typical of the British style”.
“ Defensive wise” – poor choice of words
“he wasn’t bad scoring 58% for a good show” – poor sentence construction. Is the 58% only for his defensive performance, or his overall score. If it is for his overall score, there should be a full stop after “bad”.
Emmanuel Agyemen Bedu-Midfielder
“never relaxes, very determined” – you need the word “IS” before “very”
“added power to the game” – poor choice of words
“always quick to defend when his side loses control” – poor choice of words.
Solomon Asante-Midfielder
“ in his rightful position” – in the right position
“outwit his opponent” – why? Did he have just one opponent in the Sudanese team he was playing against?
“on some few occasions” – poor choice of words
“ which never materialize” – materialized
“but was able to combine some effective short passes” – ideally, you should have put a full stop after “materialized”. And started this sentence with, “He was however able to combine….”
“commending on that note he earns 52% to his credit” – 1. Poor choice of words. 2. Finish one sentence with a full stop before you start another. The comment about his score should have been an entirely separate sentence!
Kwesi Appiah-Coach
“I am one particular person who does not doubt his technical abilities at all” – poor choice of words. “has ever produced, “ – You need a full stop after this sentence, not a comma.
“On the day he adopted two significant game formations: the 4-4-2 and 4-2-3-1 and in fact they were well executed” – poor punctuation, and sentence construction.
“He also got his cards right by starting the debutants from the bench” – poor choice of words.
“This is the hallmark of a good coach, since the players” – full stop after coach. Start a new sentence
“ are new to the environment they have to go through the adaptation process before starting them” – poor sentence construction
“ He has 95% for his effort” – has is not the right word to use here.

I THINK THE ASSESSMENTS ARE TRULY FAIR TO A LARGE EXTENT. THEY WERE DEVOID OF BAISES, PARTICULARLY ON THE COACH OF THE TEAM WHICH FOR ME IS QUITE GOOD. THE ONLY ASSESSMENT THAT WAS NOT CORRECT FOR ME IS THE 45% FOR A PLAYER WHO GAVE AN ASSIST AND ALSO SCORED A GOAL, ASAMOAH GYAN. WHEN MAKING ASSESSMENT, WE DO NOT CONSIDER THE PERSON'S PREVIOUS PERFORMANCE. ASSESSEMENT LOOKS AT THE PERFORMANCE IN A GAME. TO HAVE TALKED ABOUT ASAMOAH'S PREVIOUS PERFORMANCES MEANT YOU WERE PREJUDICED IN THE ASSESSMENT OF THE PLAYER AND THEREFORE THE 45%. i WOULD HAVE EXPECTED SOMETHING LIKE 60% FOR ASAMOAH JUDGING FROM HIS SUNDAY PERFORMANCE ON THE PITCH.
