Ghana needs a better and a respectable coach to handle the National team. With the current state of affairs, the Ayews, Boateng and Muntari should stay out of it. Nothing good will come out of it.

After all, its entrenched in our society. One doesn't need to look any further than our politicians forever begging foreign countries for simple aids and so forth. We should use every arsenal within our disposal to bring all the quality players on board while looking for a better coach.

The last time we begged somebody to return(-Asa-Gyan )we can see the effect it has on the team when everybody sees him as the one and only and even the coach is afraid to take him out. What we need is a coach who will manage players without emotions but seroiusly train them technically to accomplish the number one goal that is to win matches. Kevin, Essien, Dede and Muntari are not your ordinary players, and the way I look at it, they should be given incentives to coax them back into the Black Star. You go out of your way to get them to help you win games.

What Kwasi Appiah has to remember is he can not all always be building the national team if he has been in the technical team for the Blackstars for about 10years.
Somewhere along the line some of his boys have to graduate. And of course you do leave the graduate and start all over again. That would be considered as waste of financial resources.

If he wants to set up his football academy where he would sell his products then that is fine. He should not use the resources of GFA for that.

The national team needs the senior
stars, the Ayews, the Muntaris, the Kelvin Boatengs, the Essiens and others now than ever.

On the issue of Kevin Prince Boateng (KPB) I personally think he used Ghana to revive his professional career. Let’s not forget the prevailing conditions at the time:
1. He was on his way to playing in the Championship League which is a league lower than the premiership.
2. Germany was viewing him as the recalcitrant child they did not want to include in their national affairs because of his erratic behaviour and terrible attack on Michael Ballack (which ruled Ballack out of the 2010 World Cup).
At that point in time he opted to play for Ghana (his entire professional career i.e. from 2001 played for all the German National Football Teams) he had no football links with Ghana.
Anyway I think that KPB chapter should be closed once and for all.

I know people in Ghana have more access to the English Premier League than the domestic league in Ghana, and know the players in those leagues better than our own national talents at home, WHY???

What we could be doing (not a final solution though) include:
Developing the Local Scene
Lets find ways to develop our local/domestic football scene. Let’s market football in Ghana. There is no pride and passion in football anymore. No disrespect to the young talented musicians in Ghana, let’s compare the number of people who want to get into Azonto/hiplife music nowadays to those who want to play sports. Music is seen now by the youngsters as the avenue for financial breakthroughs and fame.

Lets make sports at home more lucrative, the gate fees affordable, provide better pitches, teams should be able to market their official memorabilia like jerseys, logos etc to raise more revenue for the club and not solely depend on gate fees from matches. The only club and its supporters in Ghana which gives an idea of what having a passion for their club despite the deplorable lacklustre state of football in Ghana is Kumasi Asante Kotoko (although I am a Phobia fan). These things would generate more passion from locals who would be ready to put money into their teams by going to watch games and knowing the local players.

Let’s develop the pitches games are played on. Our players play on hard grounds without any grass and by the time they start playing at the top level in Europe its too late to make good use of the soft silky grass by learning how to slide for balls etc.

Changing Times
I personally think that the days of winning AFCON Cups by Ghana are over. Times have changed, football is now showbiz, foreign clubs virtually own our players and there is more demand on them for the value of the thousands and millions of dollars or pounds they paid for them. Our standard of footie was high in those days when we even had great players like Stanley Matthews (British/English) professional footballer visiting the shores of Ghana and playing with great teams like Accra Hearts of Oak etc. Most of the lesser known countries have over-taken us with scouting, developing and promoting football. If people are able to pay hundreds and thousands of cedis to go and watch music and comedy shows it goes a long way to highlight the poor way football is marketed in Ghana.

Age & diet
You already know what I am going to talk about. Proper regulated sports diet and the real age of the players. This helps us to assess the real quality and life span of the players. In 2006 Ghana presented the youngest average team at the Wold Cup. Tell me how many of them still play in the national team after almost 7 years. Physique and stamina all count in football. If we need to bulk players up or if we need to help them to loose or maintain an appropriate weight these things need to be done.

Foreign Base
I heard a few years ago that Ghana Black Stars made the UK its foreign base. If this is true why are we not continuing to do it and if that’s not true why can’t we start it? Its good to have a central location in Europe (because the bulk of the Black Stars ply their trade there) where they can all converge quickly and easily once in a while to meet and train and play friendly matches with the few local players who are often invited to the Black Stars Team.

Also it would also be good to keep track of the players who loose their form or due to injury are not able to feature for the national teams. It gives them a sense of belonging and will look forward to having the opportunity to represent their country in their national colours again.

Finally, there are so many children of Ghanaian immigrants abroad. We have done well with Kwarasey. But how many more Kwarasey’s have we missed out on or will be missing out on? We literally lost Welbeck a day or two before the England v Ghana game last year. Let’s not forget that we nearly lost Jordan Ayew. Lets look out for them and show more interest in them and encourage them to want to play for Ghana.

Management
Finally we need someone who is the president of football as a whole in Ghana and not just the head of the black stars, satellites, meteors and starlets. Please Mr Nantakyi show us that your eloquence and aptitude can be translated into improving football in Ghana.

I do hope that we will be able to apply more pressure on the powers that be to improve the standards of football in Ghana. Just the way you and I would be fired from a job for non-performance these guys should be in the same situation.
