Exactly my sentiments Herbert. We always revel in our past successes to the extent that we now feel so entitled when in actual fact there are so many administrative and managerial deficiencies which require people with foresight, vision and the love for Ghana to correct. The GFA management is simply clueless on proper soccer management. By the way how did someone like Sarbahn Quaye qualify to be a member of the BS technical team? Why do you impose technical men on a coach? It's so ironic that these people are running Ghana soccer to the ground but people seem so closed minded to the extent that they can't even embrace common sense reasoning.

The problem with Ghana football should be dealt with holistically. The GFA boss (Nyantakyi) should bear in mind his management style has not worked for the country and has to resign. Akwasi Appiah have to clue about modern football. It is even more scientific for Appiah to understand and the suggestion that further training for Appiah will yield a good result is a mockery. There is an opportunity to learn quick in the mist of these problems and take the necessary steps to change situation or maintain the status-quo and we perish together.

What I can't fathom is why the whole nation refuse to accept the fact that Ghana Football is not what it used to be. From the local level to the Black Stars what I see is fallen standards. Teams in the local leagues are not playing exciting football, fields are in deplorable conditions, referees are poor, fan attendants has dropped. Indescipline is crippling in, with players focusing in on the type of hair style they wear, the dance routine they do than the goal they score.

I don't why Ghanaians are complaining? Black Star did not have what it takes to win a tournament of this nature; we have to accept the fact that needs to be rebuilt. Neither can we blame the coach nor the players for our fate. Right from "get-go" I knew it was an uphill battle. The players did what they can and coach presented what was available to him. Even if the Ayews were there we would have face similar fate because all the departments lack vitality. The team was destroyed by the so-called foreign coach. We have to go back to the drawing board and make amends instead of talking. unnecessarily.

How long does it take to rebuild. If Ghana was able to qualify to the World Cup 2006 for the first time, and also to the World Cup in 2010 why can't Ghana maintain something that was competitive on the World Stage. Why should we allow that quality of 2006 and also of 2010 to fall into shreds. IT IS MANAGEMENT. The problem is poor management and corruption. Where are the players who played in 2010 WC? If a player is happy with management they will play, if not they will refuse. Why is Essien playing for Real Madrid and not for Ghana. The same with KP Boateng, why was Owusu Abeyie not selected. Why was Jonathan Mensah on the bench, etc. I am happy with the new players such as Wakaso, Atsu, Rabiu, Asante, Awal, Kissi, Yiadom, Clottey and I am also happy with Badu, Annan, Boye, Vorsah. AA refused to combine them effectively. Against Burkina Gyan was being constantly assaulted by Burkina defense and he was missing chances. I would have preempted a different selection against Burkina, played two strikers Yiadom and Clottey and included jonathan at right back and Kissi Boateng at left back to help Vorsah and Boye. Gyan would come off the bench to add spice.

In any tournament, it is really about the match ups. Burkina was simply a tough match up for us. They were bigger and stronger. Even our beloved short Essien would have been bullied around like Agyeman-Badu got slammed to the ground before the equalizer. In contrast, if the Adebayor header would have gone in for Togo against Burkina, we would have had a better match up against Togo who except for Adebayor are sort of built like us. In the World Cups of 2006 and 2010 we had match ups that were good for us. In 2006, the Czechs were talented but too slow and the USA just was not good enough. In the end, we met our match in Brazil. In 2010, Serbia was too slow and we got a penalty when we needed it. Australia got a lucky goal and we did not play well and got a draw. We played well against Germany but as usual we lost because we could not score. In the 16 we met USA. USA is good but still a notch behind Ghana. When we met our match in Uruguay, we almost got lucky but Gyan got nervous. My point is that, we are over rating the 2006 and 2010 performances. We just had lucky match ups. In this AFCON if we had goten Togo instead of Burkina we might be singing a different tune right now but it was not to be.

I nearly did not respond to your issue about match-ups, because it can go on and on and we will miss the point. The permutations of match-ups of course has influence on a match, however an efficient team can device strategies to play against even GIANTS!!! I am talking about RECENT history as a reference to how we move forward. I am not even talking about PREVIOUS achievement such as 1982 when last Ghana won AFCON because it is too long ago. We need to give credit where credit is due. The achievements of the Black Stars in 2006 and 2010 WC is etched in the memories of the world, and that is what well-meaning Ghanaians see as being DESTROYED currently by the GFA. The Western world and South America have great soccer history because they maintain standards. In football all physical sizes are applicable. The Spaniards are 'mostly' smaller in size so they have developed a system of football that works for their physique, called tiki-taka (total football) which utilizes short passes and keeps possession. They borrowed this model from the Dutch, a model that was developed by Johann Cruyff. The Germans on the other hand are bigger in size and play direct football aimed at scoring, no fancy techniques. Ghana should have a model (style) of playing, so that STANDARDS are kept. Because we don't have a standard/style of playing there is no sense of purpose. We used to play something close to the Brazilian style which emphasized personal skill, but that has faded. Being DEFENSIVE will bring us NOTHING. We must FIND SOLUTIONS. I think the GFA has set the bar very LOW and yet expects better results. NO WAY!!!

Anokwale, your explanations are what leaps out when you first take a glance at our performance at eh just ended AFCON 2013. Your team is not automatically doomed if they are not physically endowed. Example being Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Spain. These teams do not have any physical extraordinary attributes that makes them a cut cut above the competition. However, what cannot be disputed about them is their ball handling and tactical superiority. In the past World cup competitions that Ghana participated in, our team was well coached and maintained a respectable defensive posture. This made them very dangerous on the counter, even though there was no world class goal poacher in the squad. Can you frankly tell me what strategy the present Ghana team tries to employ in winning games ? I definitely cannot give you one, unlike the past where we all knew they maintained a disciplined defensive posture and then got goals on the counter. Do you remember in the 2006 world cup, Ghana was deemed the fastest attacking team ? Now our build-up is so slow, we allow our opponents ample time to reset their defense in preparation for our attack. You simply cannot play the modern game that way, especially when you are missing a creative crop of players, to keep the opponent's defense guessing and nervous.
Cape Verde, Burkina faso, Mali and even Nigeria showed nothing revolutionary in their play. Nigeria never allowed their opponents' defense to settle, because they purposefully and constantly ran at them. When Ghana played the Burkinabes, our boys never troubled their defense and remained wasteful when chances came their way. You psychologically strengthen your opponent doing that. You could just sense that it was a matter of time before the Burkinabes equalize.
The notion that the Burkinabes were physically superior to us is not acceptable. Stamina- maybe yes, but Ghana did not have to stretch the game to overtime, where they knew maybe their stamina was going to count against them. It was gut wrenching to see Bance- Burkina's center forward play like some genius. How would we have played then, if the likes of Didier Drogba were in the opposing team- roll over and hope we consider less goals maybe.
We need to have an honest assessment of our capabilities and start improving the team beyond that, because the WCQ is right around the corner, if we really want to go to Brazil.

Coaching the National team is a matter cerebral competence . It’s not enough to be a Baba Yara or a Dogo Moro with little knowledge about the positions for the players. LOL - Why not ask the multitude of “esteemed soccer experts” in a pull. The majority will have agreed not toplay Kwadwo Asamoah at left full back position instead of midfield . Ghana needs a Jose Morihno type coach who can read and make effective changes. If Asamoah Gyan pays off Kwesi Appiah to maintain his captainship, the latter will definitely be biased towards substituting him to have competition from anyone. If Kwesi Appiah stands more to gain personally from fielding certain local or foreign players, he will not hesitate to do so. The writer of the article failed to mention the ineptitude of Kwesi Appiah as a national coach besides the corruption of GFA. It is time to change the coach to have one who will not discriminate against the best. Ghana’s finest players have always hailed from the north. How many were scouted for the National team? I would like GFA to contract Abedi Pele, Desaille and Sillas Tetteh to have 3 sets of national team players in preparation for the World cup. The best players of the 3 teams should be selected by a panel of experts to represent Ghana. Ghanaians deserve to be represented by the best.

We didn't do well in South Africa because we sent an inferior team to represent us. We were deceived or over rated ourselves because of the 3-0 international friendly with Egypt. If we had gone with the right team and I will list the team:
Muntari was fit and availed himself to play. Ayew was fit and ready to go. No reason whatsoever to drop Jordan Ayew from the team. Are you kidding me? Is Asante better than Jordan? Wasn't Mensah fit? He was available too. What about the Guy, is it Wari or whatever name available? This kid is a goal machine, something the Stars lack.
Technically, I don't think Appiah is the right coach. What made Sir Alex or J. Mounrino is the ability to recognize the skilled players and if you can't as a coach, you are out. This is an area Appiah is lacking. Should Appiah be sacked? I don’t think so but he needs help with the team selection. It’s very critical he finds a way to repair his relationship with the Ayews and get them back to the national team.
If Appiah to be retained, we may need a technical group to help with the selection of the team

He said "OK this is what we're gonna do, we'll run inside, get as much cheese as we can and we'll meet back here."
So they do it and when they get back the first rat asks the second rat "what kind of cheese did you get?" and he says "American" which makes the rats very pleased as it's one of their favorites.
Then the second rat asks the first rat "what kind of cheese did you get?" and he replies "Cheddar", which again pleases the rats.
So then the first two rats ask the third rat "what kind of cheese did you get?" to which he replies "Nacho Cheese"
"Nacho Cheese" said the other two rats. "There's no such thing as Nacho Cheese".
And the third rat says "Well, as I was running out of the store I head the shopkeeper shouting, Hey, that's not-cho cheese"

NYANTAKYI N HIS TECHNICAL PPL MADE THE LIST FOR AA, BASED ON THE BRIBES THE PLAYERS PAID TO THE GFA. It is true that Ghana went to south Africa with false hope. Why I agreed with that statement is that, this is a team without strategy of playing or formation, beside they have no scoring power at all. The players lack the quality of playing, both deffending and scoring. Then , what are you telling me of winning the trophy? So, please lets go into our senses and know how to reason. Even I doubt if we can qualify for world cup. At this present way of our playing, there is no way we can even beat a club to even think of qualifying for world cup. My advise to all Ghanaians is to shut up our dirty mouth and and start thinking of what to do next. Infact we talk too much than what we can offer.

GFA made a mistake by permitting Akwasi Appiah to install Asamoah Gyan as the captain without considering his current situation. Infact A player who is in his SECOND season in UAE should be lucky to make the cut into Blackstars. how much more make him captain? NOW HOW DO WE SOLVE THIS MISTAKE WITHOUT ANY BROUHAHAA? SIMPLE, RELEASE THE COACH. APPOINT A NEW COACH WHO THEN SELECTS HIS OWN PLAYERS AND APPOINT A DESERVING CAPTAIN.

This is a very smart article indeed Ghanaian went to South Africa with false hope. But with GFA, and the coach including some fans adamant and ego the future of the Black Star is in jeopardy. Its about time for GFA and the coach to redeem themselves by dumping their ego to enable them to accept the social life of every individual player especially our foreign born players. This will help Ghana to build a solid winning national team. Remember ego is different from rules.

HERBERT MENSAH, THE OTHER DAY SOME STUPID WRITER CHILDISHLY AND CONFUSEDLY CONSIDERED THAT AKWASI APPIAH WENT TO SA KNOWING THAT HE WAS BUILDING A TEAM AND SO HAVE DECEIVED GHANAIANS. AND NOW WE READ THAT HE WENT WITH FALSE HOPES! WHAT IS HOPE, TRUE AND FALSE, APART FROM PAUL'S SPIRITUAL DEFINITION IN VERSE 1 OF THE 11TH CHAPTER OF THE BOOK OF HEBREWS IN THE BIBLE? DID WE NOT LOSE ANTHONY ANNAN AND BOAKYE-YIADOM PRACTICALLY THROUGH OUT THE COMPETITION? DID NOT PAINTSIL DEFENDING BRILLIANTLY GO OUT BECAUSE OF INJURY JUST 4 MINUTES INTO THE SECOND HALF OF THE SEMI-FINALS FOR INSTANCE? ARE YOU BLIND PEOPLE, OR DID YOU REFUSE TO WATCH THE MATCHES, WAITING UNTIL GHANA LOSES TO POUNCE UPON COACCH AKWASI APPIAH? NOT ME! GHANA WENT TO SOUTH AFRICA WITH "FALSE HOPES" BUT REACHED SEMI-FINALS, YET IVORY COAST WENT WITH "TRUE" AND "CONFIRMED" HOPES ECHOED BY THE INTERNATIONAL SPORTING PRESS, AND WERE KICKED OUT AT THE QUARTERS! NIGERIA, OUR ARCH RIVALS, WENT TO SA WITH NO HOPES AT ALL, AND THEY HAVE WON THE AFRICAN CUP 2013. GHANA BLACK STARS ARE NOT OUT, AND WILL KEEP ON HOPING FOR THE BEST, FOR WHEN ALL IS SEEMINGLY LOST, HOPE REMAINS!

Ivory Coast is not our roll model and we don`t care about them. Reaching semi-finals doesn`t make Black Star a great team in South African. Ghana need to build a strong and winning team and we are capable of doing so.
