Can you give us just 3 reasons the coach should be fired? Here is mine and think about it. Willy Klutse, one of our legends, statement is what I will base my argument on.
Some people will never allow patience to prevail because we humans some times tend to forget that Rome wasn’t built in a day. The voice of the people though, the majority, the most of the fans are seeking to keep the coach and it is a good sign for the country. This shows how far we have come in unity to stand behind what is good. When a potential is seen, a help is given for an ultimate goal to be achieved. Kwasi Appiah has done his best, and his best may not be good enough for some people, with less than a year in office, his best is good enough.
As they say, "one who has passed through something, is the one who has experience on that thing."
Thanks Willy Klutse for his support and statement for it is needed on this issue. The point of time Kwasi Appiah took over this post is really vital information to chuck this fire-him statement going on in our country. This is not the time to dismantle but a rime to build. We wanted a local coach and we have been given one. He made few mistakes which could be fixed in no time and move on for better future, we want him to be fired. How are we going to profit from the input the country imparted in him? To me, with little help and patience from the citizens of the Republic of Ghana, all will soon be well and today would be forgotten.
He deserves a second chance and I'm glad the GFA is looking into helping him for the country to move forward.

GFA, what you guys need to do is to set up Ghanaian Legends Footballers Board to screen thoroughly for all the positions very good and effective players to represent Ghana and not old good-for-nothing rusted player to represent Ghana.
THAT WAS THE MISTAKE
Players playing in a good effective European league or any very good effective local league like the Ghana in all Africa can only be very beneficial for the Black Stars team.
Look at how the Nigerians Stephen Kashie did his selection.
No player playing for a cheap league and low rated team can well compete in a very big competition.
The Black Stars team selection Board should only comprises high rated Ghanaian football legends, the likes of Tony Yeboah, Abedi Pele, Otto Addo and one of the previous very well experienced coach like Sam Arday.
These guys should be giving the full support by GFA to monitor all the Ghanaian player playing major leagues in the High rated Football soccer nations in the World.
This will help Ghana to always come out with very good well determine highly focus players to represent Ghana.

I hear your argument for retention. My problem is, GFA was not patient with Plavi. Why was he fired? GFA made a point of saying he promised to win the African cup, he failed so he did not deliver. He was et go at a cost. What about Akwasi Appiah? Same result as t former coach and personally, Ghana played worse. No improvement. You bring in a new coach and you expect improvement NOT stagnation or even a decline in performance. Any good Fortune 500 company will fire the boss for such a performance. If GFA had no patience with Plavi, why should Akwasi Appiah be given the different conditions when he performed worse than Plavi. We really are wasting time discussing this since GFA in thier own stupid wisdom seem determined to keep him. Wait until we fail to qualify for the World Cup. There will be another excuse to retain him. Funny Akwasi Appiah even promised Ghana was going to win the World Cup.... and Ghana has not even qualified yet.
Now GFA wants to sent the coach for further studies. Now someone finds the urgency of sending him to school. After so many years of apprenticeship under 3 foreign coaches, has he not learnt anything?

His apology is accepted. I think he deserves a second chance. It is not easy to build.
By the way, who says building anything is easy? If we will look back at FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and even the national teams, Spain, France, Italy, Germany and the rest, we will discover that none of them had it smoothly. Whether a club or a football nation, each of them went through difficulties before they came better and now supper powers in this beautiful game.
Look at how the United States of America is struggling to come up upon all their resources. One would have though, it would have been a smooth ride for them, but it is not. USA of all countries still can’t find its way out in implementing a better system to shoot them off the ground.
Appiah has a great potential to build with the little he has demonstrated; on the other hand, does he have the potential to take what is already built to the next level? I mean, to win trophies? The question we should ask ourselves is do we have an already built team to win trophies at this moment, or we need to build for our experienced players are already deteriorated? Do we need a coach who can build of who can lead us to glory?
Ask yourselves these questions then make your decision.

You raise important questions and I would like to respond. The United States of course has better resources, but as you say it has not been smooth for them. Truthfully they are not as passionate with football as they are with basketball, baseball and American football. If the US was invested in football the way they do American football, basketball and baseball, then they would have a huge talent pool to select from. They do not put a lot of money in their soccer leagues the way Europeans do. That aside they also have a different way of recruiting players. They actually went for Beckham when he was out of form to come and promote the game in the US. We had a team in 2010 WC we played against Germany, Australia, Serbia, USA, and Uruguay. Ghana actually did very well, our ratings went up....we were all optimistic. What happened to that team? OK some players refused to play...why did they refuse to play? Were they not reimbursed of medical expenses for injuries they incurred whiles playing for Ghana? Did they have disagreement with management? What happened? The GFA if they are a top-notch organization must be able to give a report on each of the players who went to WC 2010. An efficient organization NEEDS to maintain standards. Inconsistency is weakness. Ghana deserves better. Accountability is a must. National teams change faster than club teams because club teams can maintain players for much longer. So Ghana has players to work with, what it needs a great system applied by a competent and savvy coach.
I can smell SERIOUS CORRUPTION....in fact it is very ...very ......bad for GFA. We actually played way better against Zambia in the semi-finals in AFCON 2012. This time round we sucked real bad against Burkina. Congrats to Burkina...they have clarified our delusions of grandeur. I totally believe in the BS players, however I think the coach could have put the bench to better effect. AA should have substituted Gyan on several occasions but did not. Actually Gyan could have come off the bench and be more effective. What was Mensah (WC veteran), Clottey, Yiadom(after he recovered) Awal, and Kisi, doing on the bench. I am glad AA rested Adoma, he could have done the same for the others, especially against Burkina who are very athletic, tall, and well built. There is something not right about our FA that now it is affecting even how officiating is done when Ghana plays. Most of the African countries now have reason to hate Ghana, why...because we found ourselves on top and admired and we have allowed it to slip through our fingers.

CEREBRAL, I like your comment and no one is saying Appiah did great. He did his best but for a new and with that short time in office, I knew he wasn't going to do everything right.
Here is my question for you, Bro.
How can we build a quality team when we keep on sacking our coaches after every tournament? Appiah is a new and up-coming coach. If we refuse to give him the chance he needs to advance in gaining experience, where do we want him to go for that? This is not the time he doesn't have the position. The position has already been given to him. 10 months and some finances have already been put to use to better him. Do you want us to throw all that away? You mean now he has a little experience, you want us to take him out and replace with another inexperienced coach? How can we develop and move forward?
We have to make a mistake to gain an experience and that is what he is doing. We all knew he wasn't an experienced coach and we hired him. Now he has gained a little experience; therefore, letting him go wouldn't be a reasonable thing to do and wouldn't make sense at all?
Here are some important questions you and I have to answer before we even consider his pink letter.
1. Do we have time for a new coach to come in to recruit the players afresh? Remember, "New King, New Law."
2. How long did it take for us to hire him when we let Plavi go? At least, it will take us three more months to get another coach to take over, where as the WC qualifying matches will soon resume next month.
3. How long do we give a new coach to adjust to his team? Keep this in mind. This coach was hired not even a year now and has taken us into an AFCON semi-finals. Doesn’t this tells his ability to do even more when chance is given to him?
4. Are we considering his salary as one of the cheapest we have contracted for in a long time?
5. Who else do those who want the coach to be replaced have in mind?
6. Are the players going to die for this new coach like they are doing for Kwasi Appiah at the moment?
For these 6 questions, I have no answers to them. On the other hand, do you have answers to them? Please come again.
Look, all I can say is let us reason well on this issue because firing him wouldn't benefit the country and the team. He just need few classes on how and when in terms of substitution and rotating of players.
We have the players already and as soon as the coach picks up these few knowledge on the beautiful game we love so much, the country would be set to lift up the trophy that we have been eluded for this long.
I will be waiting for your input Bro. thanks for your inputs.

I said it the very day he appointed that I have a problem with people who do ask for a job but the job is handed to them they take it for granted. Stop talking about salary he did not ask or compute for the job so he was not in any way to ask for a better salary everyone would like to ask for more money your salary does not determine your work output. Let us face the reality of the business end of this. If European coaches are getting paid $45,000.00 per month plus housing and travel allowances, they should be held to a higher standard. Appiah gets less than half and goes without many of the perks and "outsider" gets. As a result, it is only fair to fire a European Coach who did not get us the Cup in a weakened field in 2012. The field this year was much tougher. This year, Ghana could has been eliminated in the group stages easily. In 2012, most would not feel the same way. This team went far considering the inexperience. We discovered Mubarak and learned that Atsu might need more time. We learned that Raibu has a good workrate as a defensive midfielder. We saw that Daudu is a great goal keeper. As a bonus, we know that Adomah can send in good crosses. We just need finishers.

You made a great point there. Allow me to include mine to yours because it seems most of the fans are not understanding what is going on. There are a lot of things we need to consider before we can even think of firing the coach.
When we read about the history of this beautiful game, called Football, and how long it took to develop, we will realize that when the game was in a process of developing, the nations such as Spain, Brazil and Italy were no where to be found as the original nations or the super powers of this sport. It was rather England, Uruguah and later Austria, Holland and the rest joined in.
All I’m saying is, even the game itself took a while to develop and therefore every development abut it, wouldn’t come that smoothly. It will take time and so we, as a country, will need patience in order to build it back to where it once was. Don’t forget, we don’t have the Muntaris, the Essiens, the John Mensahs and the young John Pantsils in the team anymore. This alone should tell us something about our national team.
Yes, the Black Stars coach, James Kwasi Appiah, even though has made few elementary mistakes in this on going tournament, he should be retained until his contract is over before we talk about whether to give him another contract or not.
A quality of developing and rebuilding has been seen in him and all he needs is a little bit more of the technical and the tactical side of the job. His mistakes were not anything that couldn’t be fixed. If we rally behind him, as we have the crops, we will as well have a gardener to take care of these crops.

In addition, according to many who post on this site, we should insult Appiah and hire a European coach. Africa...when will we have confidence in each other. I hope Keshi holds an "I told you so" press conference for all Africans to watch...

against Mali: lucky to have penalty. one nil
against Cape verde: we lost that game. say what you want. No midfield, no attack, edge of our seat for 45mins.
against Burkina: we were finally expose!

Only blind men think we can beat zambia for WCQ or better yet win all our group matches with an apprentice coach . we will loose if we sit down and hope. Nyantakyi ACT NOW.

AA it's not your fault so you don't need to be sorry. Like Payola you're also a good friend of mine but I'll not mince words in saying that you displayed some tactical inefficiencies/deficiencis in your leadership and that coupled with poor 'quality' players caused our doom. But I have a bigger 'beef' and that lies at the doorstep of the GFA. To accede to 'nationalistic' agitation they chose you knowing very well you lacked what it took to lead the BS. To this end they promised to take you on refresher courses (unheard of for a national team coach) which in the first place to soccer purists like myself was a no-no and a non-starter. The ones that have to be sorry are the GFA officials. Until they decide to be true and accountable for their stewardship laurels will continue to elude us, and that's not a curse. Why did the GFA include $70,000 in the AFCON budget proposal for journalists? When they were exposed they 'chickened out' with some stupid flimsy excuse and the Ministry of Sports also connived with them to approve a budget for which the public still does not know how much and for what. Why were almost all the GFA officials and Ministry of Sports 'ogbodos' in SA? Per diem, somebody? Selfish IDIOTS!!!!

Common courtesy costs nothing, yet it returns dividends nearly a thousandfold
if it is practiced as a matter of habit
in a spirit of sincerity.
Today, there remains a crying demand for those individuals who understand that success depends on a number of factors, among which is the support of other people.
Basically, the only hurdle between you and what you desire is the support of others.
It won't be out of the way, "3nny3 nea ebi nsii da nie", if in spite of the Malian 3-1 walloping of the Stars under MRAA's watch, a defeat I consider a tragedy in the annals of our football history, we stop short and give MRAA the much needed support
so that history that tends to repeat itself does not replicate itself in this instance.
Like Slimzay, one of the forum's finest had quizzed: "He has the potential to build"
Has a pleasing personality, cool, calm and collected.
So whats the heck?
Call it empowerment.
Call it 'walatulization'
"Opoku na w'anya ne nku..........

Is the GFA the owner of the Black Stars the the President of the FA can unilaterally decide for all Ghanaians? The poor performance of the Black Stars is the worse in recent times and I shudder to think that we have a chance of going to Brazil in 2014. Fellow Countrymen, Akwasi is not capable of taking us to Brazil and the earlier he's giving the marching orders the better. Nyantakyi and that stupid Diarra contributed to the poor performance of the Black Stars. They must all go and the PIC should as a matter of Public Concern launch a full scale investigation into what analysis went into selecting players into the Black Stars because most of the players are playing in sub leagues, others too playing 3rd and 4th division leagues in Europe while those playing premiere leagues were left behind with a stupid excuse of "they are not fit". Jordan is far better than all the BS strikers paraded in South Africa yet he was not invited and we have a 4th division player being called. Black Stars is a National Team and the Coach can not treat it as his personal property to settle personal old scores with Abedi Pele. Truth be told, Appiah is not the right person for the job at the moment and if GFA think otherwise, then Ghanaians should brace themselves again for another disappointments. Sorry indeed but Akwasi James is not up to the scratch so let us all save him from putting the country into another mourning moment. JAMES AKWASI APPIAH SHOULD DO THE NATION A FAVOUR BY RESIGNING and Nyantakyi should not be a member of the Management Team let alone be the Chairman. We need accomplished ex-Black Stars players to constitute the management team to curb the corruption. What Nyantakyi has done is like killing us softly and until the Prez himself step in, we shall be miserable in the coming month.

I STILL BELIEVE THAT NAIJA AND BURKINA WORKED TOGETHER TO ENSURE GHANA REMOVAL. FROM THE GROUP STAGES TILL THE END IF YOU OBSERVE GOOD YOU CAN SEE THAT THIS TWO TEAMS HAD SOMETHING WITH EACH OTHER WHILE GHANA WAS THERE TO STRUGGLE ALONE. WHY IS KESHIE NOW SAYING HE WANT TO RESIGN IF HE BELIEVES IN HIS TEAM? THE TRUTH SHALL COME OUT SOON. WE ARE LIVING WITH THE WHITE AND WE KNOW HOW THEIR FACES LOOK LIKE WHEN THEY HAVE CHEATED. WATCH THE GHANA BURKINA GAME AND SEE HOW BURKINA TRAINER LOOKED LIKE THEN COMPARE WITH THAT OF THEY AND NIGERIA GAME. ALSO LOOK AT STEPHEN KESHIE'S REACTION IN THAT GAME WHICH WAS EVEN FINALS AND COMPARE WITH HIS PREVIOUS BEHAVIOUR WHEN NAIJA FACED OTHER TEAMS. BURKINA WERE MADE TO WEAR NIGERIAN T-SHIRTS TO RECEIVE THEIR MEDALS WHILE NIGERIA REFUSED TO WEAR THEIRS ABANDONING THEIR INITIAL PLAN TO BEHAVE AS BROTHERS. EVEN BEFORE THE GAME THE NIGERIA T B. JOSUA MENTION OF SOMETHING THAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE FIELD,BUT HE WILL NOT TELL BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL BE SHOCKED AND THAT NAIJA MUST TAKE THE FIRST GOAL BECAUSE IF THEY GIVE THE FIRST GOAL TO BURKINA THEY WILL GO INTO DEFENCE,CHECK THIS OUT ON MYJOYONLINE.COM.I AM NOT SOMEBODY WHO BELIEVES IN THOSE PROPHESIES BUT I DO KNOW THAT T.B.JOSUA WILL USUALLY MENTION THE WINNING TEAM AND NOT TALKING ABOUT IF THEY ALLOWED THE BURKINA TO TAKE THE FIRST GOAL THEY WILL GO INTO DEFENDING,MEANING THEY WILL BETRAY NAIJA. You've not committed any crime Hon. Coach Kwasi Appiah. In football, anything is possible! These days every nation knows how to play good football---Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mali are the current best teams in that order and every Ghanaian has to accept that fact.
You have the talent; there's more to learn. All you have to do is begin getting to learn the latest techinques in the game of football by enrolling in a reputable Coaching Academy, in Europe and South America; I'd suggest that the GFA help you and other coaches to acquire more knowledge in the game.
Don't let anyone frighten you, or accuse you wrongly. I have been pushing for a "Top-Class" world Coach to take charge of Black Stars, while you take your courses. The GFA has the final say though. All in all, there's still hope; don't give up. You have my fullest support.
Just take it cool and do your analysis and see where we fall short, in terms of player selection and performance ect. Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United, had to battle the odds, to become a one of the greatest coaches in England. This is an eye-opener; you're on the right track.
I wish you the very best in the new challenges ahead. You will succeed if you keep on trying and our dear nation Ghana, will be the ultimate winner! Cheer up coach.

Kwasi Appiah is a nice guy but nice does not win trophys for ghana. The happiness of every ghanain comes when there is victory most especially in football. However, this diffinatelly not the guy to win any trophy. ONE,,kwasi appiah is talking about building a team, we do not need a team, we already have a team that we spend several yrs in building, we have a team that the world envy. You have decided to be mr know all and decide to breack the team and put up your own team and it backfires on you.Secondly, you have been an assistant coach for several yrs with this team, even went as fars as going to the world cup with the best team and the best coach we ever hard and so my question is that kwasi, u never learnt anything from this guy.Followed by this recent coach Plavi.so u never learn?it semms like it. And if u have not learned for such several yrs, you never get it make a way for another coach.I for one was against the choice of kwasi appiah but rather salas teteh a person who hard proved success, and u never change what works, u only change what is not working which is kwasi appiah. This is what the previous coach of 2010 did to succeed, and u should have learnt from that.He mix the young talent like the Ayews. inkooms, badu with the experiance players and it worked to perfection, u just dont get up with your pride self with 10 young players who cannot withstand pressure to a tournament likke AFCON.Substitutions were too bad, and know game changing plan adopted when your oponentsare playing a style which does not suite your regular style of play.Nice guy, but we tied of always crying without doing something about it.I will strongly suggest that we should drop our pride and bring back the 2010 coach...he will be able to mobolize the team like the Ayews, kiven, and muntari for he got along very well with them, and know how to play a good strategy.Lets do something now or never. thanks.

'Salvaging the fast waning image of Ghana soccer has nothing to do with contracting Foreign Coaches.
After all,how many of those so called 'expert oburoni coaches' hasn't Ghana employed?
Don't worry!its just that some of us Ghanaians are mesmerised and overly infatuated with white skinned people ha-ha-ha-ha!
Na so ibi o,abi!.We are'oyibo'-crazy. We see our own black skin as inferior.
To some us black people 'we feel very safe when we have the 'Oyibo' lashing our backs'ha!-ha!-ha!-ho!ho! ho!

As a former player you did a wrong decision by using your play maker to defend.I lives in Johannesburg and i heard one of your press conference after Mali's game, which you said Kwadwo Asamoah is a utility player who can play every position which you're very wrong because you just looked at what he is doing at JUVE,Which Asamoah is playing with a top quality players around him that's the reason why he is performing at juve but here comes you don't have such quality players in the Black stars. So it was a wrong decision. And another question is how many defenders did you take to the afcon?you shouldn't have gone with them if you don't believe in them.
I support you very well please don't let any useless players cost your job i have said before that you're putting bread on your family table through your job.
Now its about world cup and every player dream is to play the world cup so please try as much as possible to speak Essien,KP Boateng,Muntari,Dede,John Mansah and introduce Frimpong. These guys are going to lift your name high.
We always says John Mansah is old but the guy is good, after last year's afcon he was selected among the caf top 11.These players will help gyan more to score goals for Mother Ghana.

There is nothing to be sorry about coach, you did your best and your best was just not enough to win us the trophy. I am advising you to go by some of the strategies applied before and during the 1978 Cup of Nations in Ghana which we won. It involved enough time (about two years) for the preparation, go on tour to some countries and also using mostly our local players if not all who do not have anything to do with big contracts in europe (I'll suggest you do away with the professionals). Talk to some of the players namely Abdul Razak, Anas Seidu, Opoku Afriye, Awule Quaye, Paha, Dan Kayode, Carr and others for their views, don't underestimate their advices. This will surely help to some extent coach Appiah. Good luck, I am solidly behind your stay with team.
