Former Ghana international and coach Frimpong Manso has attributed the declining stadium attendance in the Ghana Premier League to the poor performances of traditional giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.

According to him, the two clubs have historically been the biggest crowd-pullers in the domestic league, but their recent struggles have affected supporters' interest in attending matches.

Frimpong Manso observed that even when the league produces exciting and competitive matches, the stands remain largely empty, with only the VIP sections recording appreciable attendance.

He noted that the centre-line and behind-the-post sections of stadiums are often deserted, highlighting the need for improved performances from the two clubs to restore fans' interest.

He believes reviving Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko should be a major priority for stakeholders, insisting that the fortunes of the two traditional rivals are closely linked to the growth and popularity of the Ghana Premier League.

"For me, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak have to bounce back. If these two teams rise, that is how our league is going to come back to life," he said.

He added that the two clubs must rediscover their competitiveness to attract supporters back to the stadiums, including during their home matches.
