Asante Kotoko have reportedly been offered the services of former Hearts of Oak coach Costa Papic as the club intensifies its search for a new head coach following the departure of Eric Tinkler.

Kotoko Director of Football Stanley Purl Menzo is said to be in discussions with representatives of the Serbian tactician over the possibility of taking charge of the Porcupine Warriors.

Sources linking Papic to the Kumasi-based club are reportedly emerging from South Africa, mirroring the circumstances surrounding Tinkler's appointment in July 2026.

Papic could emerge as a leading candidate if negotiations progress positively, although the club is yet to reach an agreement with any prospective coach.

The experienced tactician is familiar with Ghanaian football, having previously coached Hearts of Oak, where he became known for his involvement with one of the country's most prominent clubs.

However, Papic is not the only coach under consideration as Kotoko continue their search for a permanent replacement.

Discussions with Romanian coach Marian Marinică are also reportedly ongoing, with the 61-year-old emerging as another option for the vacant position.

Marinică brings considerable experience in African football, having managed the national teams of Malawi and Liberia before taking charge of Zimbabwe in November 2025. He has also coached clubs in South Africa and Romania.

Kotoko are searching for a new head coach after parting ways with Tinkler on September 28, 2026, following his request to be released from his contract for personal reasons.

Assistant coach Hamza Obeng has been handling the team on an interim basis as management works towards appointing a permanent successor.
