Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has been handed a late call-up to the Black Stars squad for the September-October international window.

Thomas-Asante, who was initially left out of Carlos Queiroz’s 24-man squad, has been brought back into the fold following changes to the team ahead of Ghana’s upcoming fixtures.

The forward’s inclusion comes after Prince Adu Kwabena was ruled out of the international assignments after suffering a head injury while playing for Viktoria Plzen against Slavia Prague on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Adu Kwabena was introduced in the second half but was stretched off in the closing stages after sustaining the injury.

Following further assessment, he was withdrawn from the Black Stars squad, creating an opening for Thomas-Asante.

Thomas-Asante had been one of the notable omissions from Queiroz’s initial squad after featuring for Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He was involved in the build-up to the Black Stars’ winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Panama.

His return also comes after Mohammed Kudus withdrew from the squad.

The Tottenham forward, who had been named among the 24 players, opted to remain with his club as he continues his recovery and works towards regaining full fitness following his lengthy injury lay-off.

Ghana will face Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké on September 24, host The Gambia in Accra on September 29, and then travel to Morocco for a friendly on October 4, 2026.
