Former Ghana international Godwin Attram has been appointed as assistant coach for the senior national team, the Black Stars. This is as part of a technical restructuring ahead of Ghana’s upcoming international assignments.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the appointment on Monday, September 21, 2026, with Attram replacing Desmond Ofei, who will now concentrate fully on his role as head coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s U23 side.

Attram returns to the Black Stars technical setup with experience at both club and national-team levels.

The former forward previously coached Accra Great Olympics and has served in various youth national-team structures, including an assistant with the Black Meteors.

As a player, Attram began his career with Great Olympics before moving to PSV Eindhoven and later joining Danish club Silkeborg IF.

He also enjoyed spells in Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other leagues before representing Ghana at senior level.

The 45-year-old also headed Ghana’s U21 national team after its establishment as part of the GFA’s youth development structure.

His appointment comes as the Black Stars prepare for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and other international engagements.

Meanwhile, Ofei will focus exclusively on the Black Meteors as they begin preparations towards the next Olympic Games qualifying campaign.
