Ghanaian duo of Caleb Yirenkyi and Brandon Thomas-Asante featured for Coventry City on Saturday as the club suffered their third consecutive defeat in the English Premier League to Manchester City.

Yirenkyi was introduced in the 63rd minute, while Thomas-Asante came on in the 71st minute as Coventry City succumbed to a narrow defeat to the Sky Blues at the Etihad Stadium.

Despite their introduction, the Ghanaian duo could not salvage Coventry City from escaping defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

The Sky Blues secured the victory through Erling Haaland, who found the back of the net in the 26th minute after being set up by fellow Ghana international Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo started and played the full duration of the encounter, with his assist proving decisive as Manchester City held on to claim maximum points.

For Yirenkyi and Thomas-Asante, the defeat means Coventry City remain without a point after three matches into the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

Coventry City have endured a difficult start to life in the English top flight, suffering defeats against Arsenal, Hull City and Manchester City.

With the season still in its early stages, Coventry City will be hoping to quickly turn their fortunes around and end their losing run in their next Premier League outing.
