Former Ghanaian striker Dominic Adiyiah has disclosed that he considered playing for Asante Kotoko following his departure from the Feyenoord Academy.

According to him, his stint with the prominent academy did not end successfully, as the club omitted him from the squad that embarked on an international tour for a competition.

He noted that after making his first-ever trip abroad from Ghana to South Africa, his exclusion was a huge disappointment, indicating that the club undervalued him despite his exploits.

“I was with the Feyenoord Academy and they gave me my first passport to travel abroad and my first-ever flight in life, from Ghana to South Africa. Upon our return, I trained with them and made it clear of my intention to leave because they made me feel I didn’t deserve better opportunities as an academy player. As leading goalscorer, you omit me from the squad for an international tournament. So I decided to look elsewhere,” he said.

The former AC Milan striker added that he considered Kotoko among his options, as someone from the Ashanti Region, seeing it as a source of pride to relaunch his career.

“They played in the Division One League, so I told Coach Addy I’d leave, and as someone who hails from Kumasi, I wanted to play for Kotoko,” he added.
