Swedish interest shown in Isaac Boakye

Swedish side Norrk?ping have taken Ghana international Isaac Boakye on trial from Goldfields, according to reports in Sweden. The 20-year-old striker is one of three Africans at the club looking to secure a deal, after the arrival of Nigerian goalkeeper Ijoh Ettah and Kenyan defender Lombardo.

Boakye currently plays for one of Ghana's top club sides and is also in contention for a place in the national side for the upcoming African Nations Cup which takes place in Mali from January 18 until February 10.

This means that if Norrk?ping were to pursue their interest in him they would not have the player available to them until the middle of February, although this has failed to dampen their interest.

The young striker, who is the third highest scorer in the country, last started a game for Ghana against Algeria, but he faces tough competition to make it into the final 22-man squad for the African Nations Cup to be announced on January 22.
