You see, that's the problem! That's why we'll continue to have people who are not motivated to continue playing for Ghana.

If Amuzu wants to play for us then what is the big deal? If anything he makes our attack even more potent just by him joining our squad

Chief, when you're appointed to a position in Ghana, other interests external to your competence and beliefs influence your decision. I'll give you the example of the Attorney General. Most of our A-Gs are very competent but can't apply the laws because, we have pastors, chiefs including the Otumfour, Yaa Naa etc doing things behind the scene, pleading on behalf of people who commit rongs against the state. Most of our ministers have their hands tied. Do you think any intelligent person will be signing some of te cotracts e have with eg zoomlion? We have good people, ho can perform on the job, but their hands are tied. Either you're whipped into line or you'll not be appointed to any position. I remember in Kufou's time, there was an MP, I think he's called Koi Larbi from the eastern region. He criticised Kufour's actions. He was right. But something very dramatic happened. First they sponsored powerful media guys against him. Then they sponsored a candidate to take him out of parliament. He died a lonely man. politics is beyond the surface we see now.

You are correct, but if every "good" competent man stood on principle and said "no" to chiefs, pastors, and politicians who came to "beg" on behalf of somebody, that attitude will slowly stop. Why is it that in many countries, you cannot send someone to "beg" on your behalf but you can do it in Ghana? It is because these people in power do not have strong morals and ethics. You have to do what is right for the country not outside interests, and if you can't do that, then you are not a leader. I don't care who comes to "beg". How has giving in to people who come to "beg" helped the nation? It is exactly what is destroying the country.

So if he has come that's it, even though he earlier refused as if there was no tomorrow. One thing I've noticed strangely is no player rejects the world cup. As for Nketiah and Odoi, they refused to the very last hoping to play the world cup with England. Why didn't they called up? Whatever the reasons they will watch another world cup on TV.

You can play him in the friendly against Mexico, but don't take him to the WC. Instead, take him to next AFCON and let him earn his place. Let's see how he will be dedicated to the national cause.
